Don't get me wrong I like Barnes bullets. Love the ttsx and tac-tx but they need to get with the program and anneal it and give it a 1600 fps lower expansion limit like the LRX line and the Maker Trex bullets have.
Yes, they need to start lowering the expansion threshold to meet what their competitors are doing. No sense in making a 115 gr that opens at 2000 fps.
Ryan Farr from Barnes has confirmed the new Tac-Tx 115gr Grendel bullet will expand down to 1600 fps impact. If the G1 BC is approx .400, and muzzle velocity is 2550 fps, it will retain velocity something like this
Missed the chance to buy some of these direct at the Dallas Safari Club Show, already sold out. The rep said they do expand at 1600 and yes they are the same as the ttsx just branded differently. Interestingly he said the 100gr ttsx is the same low threshold expansion along with the 127 lrx. Would be nice if someone could confirm with them at a higher level.
My notes show 2000fps per Barnes. How can you tell the difference between the new and old 100 TTSX? I have a load for this bullet and CFE running at 2725fps out of an Alexander Arms 1:7.5 18" barrel. Would like to try the new design.

For me, it was going to be date of purchase. I haven’t heard anything about Barnes changing the TTSX metallurgy. But if someone knows, please post a link.
It’s more likely that the Dallas show rep was in “sales mode” and not familiar with the details.
I never tested the Tac-TX because I assumed it to be the same as the TTSX. I guess I should add it to the collection. Especially the 115gr when it arrives.
PF, thanks for vid link. Barnes sales guy says velocity from a "16-18-20-ish" barrel is "2600-ish", minimum expansion velocity is 1400 fps, and BC is 0.387. He says it was based on .300 Blackout bullet technology, so that makes sense.
