Got an E-mail from Federal Terminal Ascent 130 grain

Federal just released a 130 grain Hybrid 6.5 bullet that starts opening at 1500fps. Can't find a length though. Might be too long for the Grendel.https://www.federalpremium.com/terminal-ascent.html

Looks like it's a release for loaded ammo. If so you can bet your butt it won't be loaded in a grendel case.

I will keep a eye on them but at that price they aren't getting a hard look. Not when I can pick up 129 ablr's for less money and still have a lower expansion limit.

Yeah, they don't seem to be doing for any particular performance or preservation issue (corrosion), at least not that I can find stated. So why nickel plate the bullet? What purpose does it serve outside of marketing?

I used to have some Turkish surplus 8mm Mauser ammo that had nickel plated, steel jacketed bullets. Seemed to shoot OK in my K98 but had to clean the barrel a bunch. I don't think the nickel plating is gonna be much of a problem on the Ascent bullets.
