Working Up Load with Power Pro Varmit PPV

28.3-28.5 is were i want to be at around 2450 ish fps that were ive seen my best groups its been frustrating cause with the powder in my cm ive been able to keep speeds withing a few fps round to round , im seeing 50/60/70+fps from round to round with the ppv
the beam scale seems to be more accurate the more charge wieght im trying to wiegh out cause in my 5.56 its also all over the place fps wise as well . but ill deff give the scale a once over today ty for the tip

i got 10 rounds loaded for today using that digital scale so ill chrono those and see how those do

Don't forget ppv is temp sensitive as cfe223 and leverevolution.

So the fps variation could very well be the temp sensitivity of the powder showing itself.

This is the reason why I'm looking to unload my cfe223, ppv, and probably my leverevolution. I can live with a few fps less and not have to deal with that with ar-comp, h4895, h335,h322,varget,tac,aa2520,benchmark,blc-2.

Ar-comp seems to be the clear winner for any bullet in my ar grendels, except for the light weight pills, those pills I like h335 the most. Anything from 120 and up ar-comp is where it's at in my grendel ar's. My bolt grendel I'm rocking the h4895 the most.

I am definitely following Mel's work with PPV, but I too am becoming a big AR Comp fan. It doesn't seem to be as "peaky" as 8208 and my velocities are a little more consistent.

I don't want to drift this too far into scales, but I tried a Gempro 250 too. out of the box it wouldn't weigh the same thing the same weight twice. It went back the same day.

I have discovered that gravity is usually very dependable.

im going to be trying out some varmagedons , and 108g sceanars here soon , but id really like to get my hands on some tac to try out since its temp stable
i did just buy another pound of ppv since i am just about threw my first pound , i was hoping to get some h335 locally but they were out of it when i stopped in and werent getting any back in for a while

i really want one powder that hopefully works great from 100-123 g bullets just makes loading that much simpler

i may just have to break down and order a pound of tac online and pay the dang hazmat which i hate doing unless im ordering alot of hazmat stuff

as far as what im doing witht he ppv now im going to drop the charge down to 27.8 ish and try to get my velocitys back into the 2450-2470 range which is were those eld-ms shot the best out of my grendel at 2500ish the groups start to open up , and didnt tighten back up till the 2600 fps area but thats loaded to hot and im over presure

And yet another vote for AR Comp. 27.2 ARC under 123 Sierras seems to shoot in the 2460ish range in now 4 different Grendels with low SD?s and very good to exceptional accuracy. Start running into some compression with above combo, but SD?s in 4 barrels have been under 10-comfortably. Have shot a lot of CFE, a bit less 8208 and ARC just seems to fall in place with a lot less effort. Will continue to work with others, but am laying in ARC for the long haul.

You can vibra settle it. Ar-comp settles perrty good with a sonic toothbrush.

I'm running the 120 gold dot in my 16 and 12.5 ar grendels at 2.290 and 28.6 grains. No pressure signs, very well behaved during the ladder work up and the ad and ES is stupid low.

preping ( resizing/trimming/deburring) a ton of brass tonight got a whole ton of grendel brass in the tumbler still as well but that wont be ready for resizing and trimming till tommorow night


i did put an order in with brownells unfortunatly out of stock on both the tac,8208 but i needed a few cases of primers and they had reloader 17 in stock for my cm so i picked up a few 1lb containers of it considering it costs me 35$ a pound here locally and i picked up some more eld-m's considering ive almost already halfway threw my last 250count box got some other misc stuff liek grendel mags and some pmags for the cm's

loaded a bunch at 27.9 g today shot an average of 2450 fps , grouped horribly , i need to check the rings on my scope i think the bolts have lossened up

ill put up apicture here in a lil bit squares on target are under an inch since i printed the targets on my printer and scaled them to fit normal paper

must have just been a bad day for me yesterday , i was frustrated with breaking the buffer spring in my 20inch cm when i was trying to shoot groups with the grendel
so anyways i went out today and shot 2 back to back groups with hornaday black factory ammo and a set of the loads from yestersday after rezeroing my scope , and shot 2 groups like what ive come to expect out my grendel

going to go back and load up a bunch at 28g tonight since some of my friends wanna go out and have some range time this weekend

since im going out with a friend for a range day i loaded up a bunch of rounds tonight at 28.2g ppv cci primer hornaday brass and eld-m @ 2.255 and i ran out of eldm,s so loaded the last 15 with mid south monster match at 2.270



i will say the damn ppv works great in the powder thrower. Once i got it set it would throw a 28.2 charge just about everytime after i got it setup , every once in a while it would throw at 28.1 or 28.3 prolly around every 15th or so round

weather been crappy snow and rain so havent done much , just back to prepping more brass

should be up into the 50;s this weekend so hopefully ill be back at it maybe try to stretch the grendel out further then i have already and see how well i can do with it
