24? liberty build

So, this is my first Grendel build. The goal is a good med/heavy weight varmint gun that will play double duty as a target gun. Here’s the build list so far:

Liberty 24” 1:8 5r barrel with matched bolt
BCM mk2 upper
BCM Ambi charging handle
No name phosphate bolt carrier
Odin works 17.5” Ragna rail
80% lower
Larue MBT 2s
Stock TBT

The scope will be a donor until I can save my pennies for what I want. I’ve had good luck with Burris and Leupold, and will look at those first for a FFP reticle I like. The stock will most likely end up being a Magpul PRS gen 3. The barrel is threaded and will take my SciCo Omega 300 - I’m undecided about putting a brake on it.

The rail should get here soon, and then I’ll slam it on an already built lower for break in. More on how it shoots when I get to that. Thanks for taking a look.

Congrats on your soon to be grendel II sir.

May I suggest a item change? Find yourself a thick heavy wall billet upper. It will work much better with that long pipe then the thin forged upper you have it in now.

What billet upper would you recommend? Any particular brand?

Only one I have personal experience with is the Spartan side charging one sold through joebobs.

But any good heavy billet upper should work I would think. They just do better with the long heavy pipes. Since they are thicker they resist flexing that the thinner forged uppers can't when paired with such a long and heavy barrel.
