Well, gee, we might as well just going ahead and turn in our guns right now. Rolleyes Didn't realize this was a foregone conclusion.

I watched most of this and agree 100% with everything I heard even the part about gun owners trashing the NRA, but I'm afraid he's lost a lot of viewers because of the length. It was about 13 minutes before he mentioned the 1st reason we will lose our guns. Still a good video and thanks for posting it.

Yes, he can get a little long winded with his commentary lol. Sorry to say, the majority of responses here just validated his point.

I can't watch that guy. He's preachy beyond belief, and turns everything it into an insanely long RambleThon. My God, that video is 80 minutes long. HOLY CRAP DUDE! If you watch 5 of his video's, that's pretty much an entire work-day. For comparison, DNS video's are like 5 minutes long, with outstanding content density. If TNP tried to do the same video, it'd be two hours long.

Also... isn't that the guy who took a LaRue, modified the gas system - and then went Ape that his gun didn't work and blamed LaRue?

One of the factors youtube pays for is minutes watched. Those that make money from their videos get more income the longer they get viewers to watch.
I understand that most gun videos aren't paid but I imagine that discussion videos are.

I pretty much agree. However, there is one factor that might out weigh all of the others. History is on our side. This country was created by armed citizenry. The Irish are not permitted to have guns (with some exceptions) yet they have been fighting for their freedom for over 8oo years, with modern rifles, RPG's, etc. In over 3000 years of written history, Freedom always wins in the end. I do not know for certain, but there could be a blood bath the likes of which the Left has never imagined. Keep in mind that most of the gun grabbers are woosies and are afraid to defend their women and children against a home intruder.

Having been in and out of the retail gun business several times over many years, there are two things that I commonly saw. First is the outspoken gun rights "advocate". This is an "in-your-face" obnoxious person who has taken the 2nd Amendment as his chosen venue. I recall VIVIDLY a guy who frequented a store I was in. He had a Glock on each hip and a 1911 in a shoulder holster. All legally carried, but... The rest of his appearance would bring chills even without the hardware. And this is what the public sees. And fears!

The other is far more common, the politically agnostic. They have had a problem of some kind, a stalker, a break-in, an assault. I would ask if they belong to a range or to the NRA, NGOA or the TSRA or any similar organization. Typical response was no, they did not want anyone to know they had a firearm. I would try to explain the virtues of joining any of these organizations but the common answer was "no thank".

Folks, we are often our own worst enemy. We want the other side to accept us but we so often show them our worst.

There are numerous products on the market that, under any other political climate, would be no big deal. But in this climate only serve to feed the other side. And we try to show these things off. A screaming example is the bump stock. I often wonder if it's development was fostered by the ammo manufacturing world. It's only real purpose was to facilitate the expenditure of a lot of ammo. And it worked well at this, but in all the wrong places.

There are other examples but I'm getting long winded.

We need to police up our own side of the line, not wait for them to do it for us. We need to be the good guys not the bad guys. How many of y'all have taken a notice off the web relating to a local event where a 2nd amendment follower has been "the white knight and slain a dragon". I have. Was it broadcast? Not the first time nor the second, but eventually one did! It was a brief mention but it was a mention! Did they take it from what I sent? I don't know and never will but if enough of us do this, the broadcast station will understand the magnitude of the audience that wants to hear this. And when there are enough ripples in the water, they become a wave! And start getting noticed! In my area ( greater Dallas ) I send 'em to FOX, NBC and CBS. You can do the same!

Yes, we can't stop what is probably inevitable and not that far off. But we can do a lot of damage control in the mean time. We can make sure that the objections from "the other side" are minimized. We need to be seen as the good guys and not just by the folks who already know us.

Through out history their has only ever been 2 methods that have historicity soon too work 100% of the time when it comes to having what you want.

Out spend them on the subject or war.

Sad to say that's where we are at with our fun rights now in this day and age.

Either we as a community out spend their campaign are we have to deal with useing force to defend and keep what we want.

Simple as that.

Yup. I've said it before: "Rights" do not exist outside of the human mind. You have only such rights as you can convince other people to willingly respect, or -- failing that -- force them to unwillingly respect.

If we have to force the "other side" to respect our rights under the 2nd Amendment ( or any other ) then all we have done is traded places with them. The reality is that we need the recognition of fact that the issue is not firearms but the actions of a questionable few who would abuse the trust of others with whatever tool was available. Doesn't matter if its a gun, a car, a propane bottle or a van full of fertilizer, they would seek the same result. Remember, there were no firearms present with Timothy McVea in Oklahoma City, there were no firearms present on 9/11 and we could name more. It could almost be said that if access to firearms were eliminated, the casualties would be even higher as the "tools of destruction" become much less selective. I would rather face a shooter in a crowd than some fool with a backpack full of C4 or ammonium nitrate.

Perhaps, but that did not stop these folks from forcing the "other side" to respect their rights.

to look a little deeper, at that time it was "outsiders" trying to force their will on us. This time, we are, ourselves", becoming divided on what constitutes a right.

A parallel is the medical world.

The media blasts us with "everything has to be surgically clean. Get a shot to kill ( oops, did I really use that word ) what ever known kind of germ and virus that you may carry. Then scrub your world with anti-bacterial whatevers and hide in a little white room so that germs can't get to you. THe other side says, go play in the dirt and develop a natural immunity. The reality is ( if Darwin was right ) that in the beginning every living thing was just a germ. If something had killed off all the germs back then, none of us would exist today. We can't kill off all the germs so we gotta learn to live with 'em. The law will never eliminate all privately held firearms so they gotta learn to live with 'em. The problem is germs keep killing people and so do firearms ( OUCH!, now I've used that word again ). This feeds the fears that the less informed are surrounded with.
Can't claim that "common sense" will prevail as humanity seems to have lost that some generations ago. A good friend ( who's wife is a renowned sociologist ) and I were talking some months ago and these kind of issues came up. He made an interesting comment, that it is well documented in sociological studies that the level of violence, chaos and loss of order ( which is feeding the anti's ) is exactly what would be the results of overcrowding and deep urbanization. You don't hear of any incidences of mass mayhem in rural areas, only in highly congested urban environments.
Is this fixable? Not unless a massive de-urbanization process is undertaken or some large scale natural event does it for us. Or, maybe some idiot with a bigger trigger. The other way to fix it is by putting out the word that we're not the bad guys. Defuse the "disinformation" flow. As stated above, when one of "our kind" uses a firearm as a solution, make sure the local media says so. And keep doing it. Try to get skeet clubs in the local schools. Take someone to a gun range and let 'em go with .22's. The bottom line is to eliminate the fears that folks have of firearms. Then, be elimination, it will be seen that firearms are simply a tool of choice by the bad guys.
And, as I've stated above, I would much rather be confronted by some one with a gun than someone with bricks of C4 in a backpack, especially if I'm in a crowded place.

That is incorrect. Actually, the "other side" -- King George -- had been forcing his agenda on the colonies for years, until the Founding Fathers used force to stop the continued violation of what they considered to be their rights.

just_john Wrote:to look a little deeper, at that time it was "outsiders" trying to force their will on us.
Not really. At that time, we were British colonies -- part of the British Empire -- and subjects of the King.

The King thought he had the right to force his will on his colonies, and some of the colonials thought their rights were violated by the King.

The matter was eventually settled by force of arms.

just_john Wrote:A parallel is the medical world.

The reality is that some germs will kill you before you can develop a natural immunity.

just_john Wrote:We can't kill off all the germs so we gotta learn to live with 'em.
Getting vaccinated makes that task a helluva lot easier and much less problematical.

IMO, you're indulging in wishful thinking. For one thing, what you propose would require a level of dedication, determination, and coordination that's never been seen in the firearms community.

For another, many on the "other side" will not cooperate with the implementation of your plan. I had a relative who was very anti-gun. Feared and loathed guns. (I think his outlook may have been formed in the service, when he saw a guy use a Thompson SMG to needlessly slaughter a group of seals, just for fun.) No amount of logic or facts that I presented could change his mind, nor was I ever able to talk him into handling -- let alone shooting -- a gun.

It's way beyond "stopping the disinformation", the media WON'T allow that tactic. IMO, we are at the point of solely being reactionary to what events take place, i.e. Virginia. Time WILL dictate what happens next.
