Folks,


Been quite a a while since I have posted, so here we go. Took my Liberty barreled AR15 in 6.5 Grendel to area 96 for a doe/fawn pronghorn hunt. These are special tags, almost like a depredation tag. The hunt location was about an hour north and east of Rock Springs. I spoke with one of the farmers in the area, and came out. The farmer was great, he said come on, I will take you out to one of my fields. There were about 30 or so animals, conditions were not the best. It was in the 30s, with a 40 mph cross winds, I picked a doe at 200 yards. Took my shot, hit just behind the left shoulder. The 123gr SST, I hand loaded did its job! The lungs were blown into soup. She dressed out at about 50 pounds of steaks, sausage, ground. Very pleased! A2

Congrats! looks like you brought home the bacon. Er, sausage. Smile
If one were to collect all the successful hunting episodes reported here, the next time an anti gunner says "Nobody uses a AR for hunting! they are just a weapon of war used for killing people!" you would have a great way of showing them how wrong they are.

Congratulations. While I was working in Colorado/Wyoming I developed a fascination with the antelope and sadly never got the opportunity to hunt them. That being said, the largest pronghorn I’ve ever seen was sitting in a pasture with some of the Cervi Rodeo Co. bulls. Dear lord was he a monster...

Awesome. Just got back from Wyoming myself. Worland area. Technically success-full with a 305 yard shot, dropped animal, but it got up ran and slid down an deep muddy ravine about 25yds away. After hours of trying i gave up. It was too dangerous with the mud. I shot my animal so went home.
That Wyoming mud is by far the worst ive ever seen
