$346 New Grendel Pistol

My brother cut & turned a $20 BCA M4 nitride barrel down, squared-up the back of the launcher cut as the shoulder, 11-degree crown, and threaded 9/16-24 (not enough meat for 5/8-24). Wound-up 11.3-inches.

A $29 Arfcom lower from PSA kicked the ball the rest of the way down the hill.

The Simmons 1-6 was on clearance for (allegedly) $200 bucks off @ $89 bones. The scope is almost uncannily similar to my Strike Eagle. If so, it?s worth the price I paid. If not & the pistol shoots well, I?ll scare up a deal on an RT6.

Test fire over the weekend & I should get to the 200-yard range the week after Thanksgiving.



ETA - to be square, the $346 total doesn?t include the KVP linear comp the same brother gifted me.

Cool stuff! What kind of ammo are you gonna test it with? You running a regular carbine spring and 3 ounce buffer?

I always am intrigued by cheaper builds where many times they turn out to be very serviceable firearms. What size gas port did you use and did you use an adjustable gas block or adjustable gas bolt carrier?

Likely Hornady Black, though I really built this as an ?up to 200-yard plinker? so I?ll take a few boxes of Wolf also. I?ve almost got a large enough brass stash to make it worth plopping down at the bench. Have AR-Comp & boolits ready.

I used an Armaspec SCS I had sitting around. It?s equal to a 3-oz. carbine buffer & spring. Gas port was left at .070; will open up a wee if needed.

Typical of BCA, the original crown looked like it was done by chipmunks & the chamber was tight. Between the re-crown & polishing the chamber maybe it?ll shoot OK.
