New member: My first of many grendel Builds (love this cartridge!!!)

"Long time listener first time caller...". This forum has been a great help and hopefully I'll just keep learning more from you all great folks.

I'm PNW (Oregon) born and raised, background is in EMS/Fire/Rescue and Backcountry Medicine (WMI/NOLS) and I've lived all over the place from Govvy/Mt. Hood to Scotland to NE Australia where I worked on a cattle Station and fought Wildfires for several years for the state of QLD. I spend a lot of time rafting and in the backcountry especially out in Idaho and Washington in the mountains and figured the Grendel along with my 10mm sidearm (my other favorite caliber) would make for a great combo out in the boonies and for claiming game when desired. I don't hunt a ton anymore because I refuse to kill without appreciating and doing the animal justice by using as much or all I can (the last few hunts I went on before my Dad passed we donated a lot of meat to a local group to feed the homeless which I felt good about),

Anyway, enough of my gift-o-gab (I'm a true Highland Scot, we invented humor and belligerent drinking and telling stories about such endeavors...LOL) here's the rifle:

-Aero M4E1 Receiver set
-18" Faxon "Gunner" Match 416R/QPQ Barrel
-Standard A2 Birdcage (gonna get replaced and possibly suppressed here in the future... if that's still possible)
-Toolcraft BC with TC DLC Bolt (JP enhanced bolt on order)
-Geissele Super 42 Spring and buffer
-BCM Mil-spec 6-pos extension
-MFT Minimalist stock
-BCM 15" MCMR rail
-Primary Arms 3-18x50 FFP (5.56 DMR reticle soon to be replaced with something more versatile but still an AWESOME value scope IMO)
-Aero middle-reach SPR mount
-Larue MBT2S trigger with the FP trigger spring (zero issues through over 5K rounds on this trigger in this gun and the 5.56 rifle it started out life as)
-AXTS/Radian Charging handle
-Geissele extended bolt-catch (LOVE these things, wish they made a version like the PDQ Ambi-catch where I could modify my reciever and still have this on the other side

That about covers it. Thanks for all the help and all the future help I'm likely to ask for here in learning how to maximize this caliber and cartridge. I really do think it;s about the ideal round for this platform and this site kicks ass for getting people new to the caliber up to speed. thanks you all.

Currently getting geared up to handload for the cartridge but just shooting WOLF Gold 120's, the cheap-o Steel 100g stuff and various "Match" rounds (the Faxon seems to like the SST a LOT and it's proving it's worth to me as a hunting round after taking this baby on a pig hunt here a few weeks ago... still waiting on pics of that fun.).

How to post pictures
1. Go to the lower right corner of the "Quick Reply" section and click on the "Go Advanced" box.

2. In the next screen, below the "Your Message" section and in the "Additional Options" section click the "Manage Attachments" box.

3. In the new window that opens up click the "Add Files" box, and when that pops up another little window click the "Select Files" box. Go find the file(s) on your computer, click on them, and choose "Open." You should see your file(s) in the little window so click "Upload Files."

4. This brings you back to the main File Upload Manager window, and your file(s) should appear down in the Attachments area. Click "Done."

5. This brings you back to the "Additional Options" section and you should see your image file(s) under the "Manage Attachments" box. You can now either "Submit Reply" or "Preview Post."

Note: Make sure your picture is a standard picture file format is not sized too big.


You can also use a free web hosting site like Imgur or Flickr to hot link your picture into the narrative. I use Flickr which uses a BBC code you copy into your narrative.
