Are there ANY retailers who would have a 20" stainless barrel like Proof, Bartlein, Shillen, Criterion, etc available for immediate delivery...or do ALL the high-end barrels require build time? I dont wanna skimp on parts with this Grendel build, but I'd really like to have it done before Nov 1st.
I did see a Proof carbon fiber barrel available at Midway USA, but I'd rather not pay the extra coin for CF since weight is not a concern.

theres a used bartlein in the the for sale section on this forums
but for the most part i havent seen any in stock

Have you called mark at precision firearms. He sometimes has barrels available from orders that fell through. Most of the time it's built to order but sometimes you get lucky by making a phone call.

I did. He has about 50 people ahead of me inline for a barrel. I found a Shillen, but its a bull barrel and I wasnt sure if I would end up regretting not having the option to brake or suppress.

Wilson Combat has this in stock.

i ordered a bartlein on friday, mark said @ 8 weeks. just enough time to finish gathering everything else.................

Average barrels are starting to creep into this discussion.
Unless the company has made barrels for Olympic shooting teams then 'High end' is just a subjective lottery.

I have to agree.
Bartlien, kreiger, lijia, JP these are top end barrels in my mind.
Faxon, Odin, BA, Wilson, Noveske, Green Mountain I would say are top end rack grade.
Everybody else is lower end rack grade are below in my mind.

Criterion is a mid range barrel and they are available pre-fit from Brownell?s all day long.Sometimes you can go on the Krieger direct site and they have some barrels ready to ship. I believe that?s how I got my Ruger Percision rifle 308 26? Krieger heavy barrel.Just got the Bartlein 6.5 Grendel heavy 24? barrel I ordered from Paul Craddock after almost 2 mo.But,it was worth it. Very happy with that one .

Went with the 23" Lilja AR24 heavy barrel and Maxim bolt combo.
Big THANK YOU to Curt at Six Sigma Arms for talking with me this morning and walking me through all the specifics of building a long range AR. Looking forward to my very first build.
