Rainier Arms 20" bull barrel or White Oak 18" fluted upper?

Been looking at used uppers to get started.

1. Less than 2 boxes Rainier Armament = 5.5 lbs $650 shipped
20" SS barrel YHM customizable with rails, 1 AA 24rd magazine

2. New White Oak Armament = 5 lbs $750 shipped
SS fluted, Krieger, 18", 1-8twist, .875 at the muzzle and 1" under the forend, with Hogue free float hand-guard

3. Something else...

For those who voted, please tell me why. I really only have 7.62x39 barrel knowledge, and don't know much about chambers, and who chambers what.

What caliber are you looking for? All I see on Rainier's site is a $1400 16" upper and a $400 dollar 16" barrel for 6.5 Grendel. White Oak Armament did't have anything for 6.5 Grendel. Another forum member pointed me to the J&T Site; Seems to be the only place to get 6.5 Grendel and not some variant, that will ship sooner than 6 weeks.

Looking for a Grendel. They are both listed for sale by the owners. I am in no hurry. I won't be able to shoot it until next April anyway.

Then why not get one from Alexander Arms? $640.00 to $2,750.00 depending on what you want and what your budget allows.

Alexander arms if your not in a hurry. I think white Oak armament don't have 6.5 grendel yet from there customer service info

No, I know John Holliger the owner of White Oak, he stopped handling Grendel back when there was controversy over the trade mark. He might be talked back into it now that it is a SAMMI spec but I wouldn't hold my breath, he is backlogged through the nationals in August on .223 barrels. But he builds the undisputed best service rifle uppers in the business. Out of the top 100 competitors, I would wager 60+ are using his uppers. I know Konrad Power who won the Presidents match this year was.

I hope WHITE OAK will come back building 6.5 Grendel barrel. They have good reputation in 5.56/223 barrel accuracy. thanks bob in advaced for convincing them to build again 6.5 grendel

I've called them two weeks ago and they don't have any plans to make Grendel barrels!
