Well looks like it's happened again.
Report I just read is 18 dead in Wal-Mart in El Paso.
Nut job used an ak47 this time. Pics of him on the net and his name as well.
Won't repeat them here because he doesn't deserve the light of day.
Sad this happened to these people and their families.
We are living in very sad times folks.

Let's be clear here folks. This isn't some second amendment nutjob, this is a plain and simple nutjob. He wasn't making rational decisions. He's gone astray of the good straight and narrow, and should pay for his crime swiftly and surely. The gun haters are going to have a field day with this. It's already on the schedule 24/7 for the foreseeable future. "See, if only we didn't have access to guns..."

My question is how the Nut Job was able to continue what he was doing for 20 minutes if media reports are to be believed. I used to teach Active Shooter Classes and in the Aftermath of Columbine the Doctrine is first on the scene move to the sound of the guns, do not wait for backup, do not assemble a team. Go immediately to stop the shooter. Having lived in El Paso, can virtually guarantee cops had to be on scene in under 5 min of the first 911 call and very possible under 3 min.

This is some kind of planned campaign, someone's money and influence is behind all this. I notice that it all seems directed at states the left wants to turn blue... domestic terrorism if you ask me.

Sad to say but the fourm I first seen this on, someone posted a list and the last 7 mass shootings line up in places and time lines with the left's anti gun campaign.
I would hope this isn't really the truth behind the matter but I'm having a hard time believing the liberals wouldn't go to this low of a level.
One thing is for sure we are living in very sad times. And the course our country is running can only lead too one of two ends.

The reality is our society is crumbling. The democrat party has turned completely socialist, un-checked immigration has intentionally created a cultural division in the western nations, victimization instead of individual responsibility dominates the individuals narrative, religion and morality is a thing of the past, the family unit is no longer deemed important, gender roles are considered evil, American history is now demonized and considered evil, free stuff dominates the majority's thinking instead of freedom, young adults publicly freak out and commit vandalism and attack people with whom they disagree with, our cities have literally become open air cesspool over run with the homeless and drug addicts, while virtue signalling and power grabbing has become the response of choice by most city officials...................Over half the population has lost its mind and is completely separated from reality while 1 out of 6 people are on psychotropic drugs,free speech is now considered hate speech and should be shut down ..................... Did anyone think this was going to have a happy ending????????? We do live in interesting times!

Yep, but the vast majority of people who can carry (either in states where permits are not required or who have permits in states that do require) do not actually carry a gun on a regular daily basis. There were probably (based on the statistics) several people in the Walmart that had their carry permit. If there were, it is likely only 10% or so of them were actually carrying despite the fact that this was NOT a gun free zone. None engaged the shooter.

Folks can cherrypick events to fit timelines, but the reality is that mass shootings happen on an ongoing basis. It seems like everybody wants their own definition of mass shooting. Mother Jones requires it to first be a mass murder (defined as 3 or more killed not including the shooter) before it can be a mass shooting, and it has to happen in a public place. Others simple go by casualties (4 or more shot and/or killed) and some have trouble distinguishing between those who are shot and those who were injured during the event by other means (e.g., falling down). I saw where a guy on another forum was claiming mass shootings happen before major events. I am not sure what he is talking about. We don't have any major events coming up anytime soon per se.
Based on what I can find, mass shootings happen every month of the year, every year, for quite a number of years now.
This is the most extensive listing of mass shootings, but you have to read incident by incident to verify that they are all actually mass shootings and not inclusive of people injured otherwise or the shooter not included in the tabulation...

I thought this was a really interesting article on mass shootings. It only includes data to 2013, but it discusses some of the issues with categorizing these events in that there is no one actual official definition. In the trends section, it has an interesting breakdown of public mass shootings, familial mass shootings, and other felony mass shootings.

You’d think in Texas out of a possible 3000 customers someone would be packing. Only military and LE really train to go towards the sounds of battle. There are training classes for civilians but by and large I predict a very high percentage of CCL carriers would try to leave the area, hunker down and protect their families and themselves. Since retiring I’m not sure how I would’ve reacted had I had my grand kids with me. My first instinct would be to protect my grand kids and if the aggressor got close to us I would engage.
I have always carried concealed since 1976 and fortunately I’ve had to yet fire my weapon. There were a couple of times I drew my weapon. Your physical condition, age and circumstances need to be considered in any self defense encounter. We are naive to think it can’t happen in our community or to one of us. We must strive to be alert, prepared and hope it doesn’t happen to us.

Carrying takes commitment and courage. Both. I'm only going to live once, and I can't say how I'll react when faced with death. I can say I usually turn ice cold, emotionless and calculating in the emergencies I've helped with so far. It was always someone else who was hurt though, and it was always over. When my kids are hurt, or emit that familiar - you know it immediately - scream, I'm usually going 10k MPH by the time I get to them, then the calm comes back. I don't know. I do know, I carry everywhere now. No more excuses.
Well, for a while. Until my humanity creeps back in and I become complacent again.
These events remind all of us how close and dear life and family are. Treasure what you have, worry less about what you don't, and trust God to sort things out.

I don't have a complete count of domestic terrorists, but I do remember that the spectrum is wider than just "right wing folks." The San Bernardino massacre was a couple of muslim extremists, and they went after local government employees. The Boston bombers were islamo-eastern europe (or was it Chechen?) nut jobs. The 95-beltway sniper was ex-army, a bitter black guy with his son, Muhammad and Malvo. This recent Dayton Ohio one was a far-leftie that was a Bernie+Warren supporter who also supported "gun control" and had been making "murder lists" from high school days. The Alexandria shooter of Republican congressmen was a left wing wacko, again a Bernie supporter. He drove all the way from Ohio and looked for the Republican softball team, not just congressional reps. Didn't seem to care if they were Rino's, conservative, moderate, whatever... just needed to be the republican reps.
And this is all off the top of my head.
You and I both no doubt remember the Weathermen/Weather underground and Saul Alinsky et al. Political ideology-terrorism... from the Left. Fire-bombing judge's houses, etc and post offices, etc.

Antifa is not... o wait a minute they are truly a bunch of Nazi-like domestic terrorists, although they may be just as 1917/Bolshevik as they are National-Socialists...
So I would say there is enough shed blood on radicals' hands, across a wide spectrum of ideologies, to go around.
O, yes, and Chicago... there is an equivalent of a mass murder/shootings going on there Every Weekend. Probably not ideological at all.
edit to add: I will grant that this list doesn't have much to support "turning red states blue" -- there is that point to be acknowledged.
