Decided the black contrasted well with the FDE so we're keeping it. Build looks great, threw on a junk scope just to test fire it. Shoots well. Still have to break in the barrel so I'm hoping the groups shrink a little from the current 2 moa. Weighs in at 8lbs 9 oz stripped so should be close to 10lbs with scope, bipod, and ammo.
Honestly it's not that hard. If you're a stickler for detail and process, meaning you respect the step by step nature of it and take the time to complete each step properly, you'll do fine. Cutting corners will create more work or a crappy finished product. The hardest part should be getting the right spray pattern on your paint gun. I use a small detail sprayer with the hopper on top and it works like dream. For smaller stuff I got an airbrush. I use the same compressor I use for roofing but I have a regulator and water trap right on the hose attachment I use for spraying. My Kydex oven is perfect for the small parts and the barrel and handguard went in the kitchen oven. Metal is only baked for an hour, polymer for 2 (lower temp). Fired a few reloads today trying to find a pet load and I'm getting 1/2 - 3/4" groups at 100 yds. I'm thrilled to have that accuracy with less than 50 rounds through it.

Thank you. I only have access to a 100yd range. I'm hoping to try this out ridding some local farmers of their chuck problems. I would like to have the scope zeroed for 200. With these pet loads I'm curious what my holds would be for 300, 400, etc. 100 is the sweet spot where I live so for now I'm good.
I think I decided on the 4-14 Athlon FFP glasss so when I get that ordered, mounted and dialed in I'll post results.
I didn't notice what barrel you were using other than 18" MLGS. Personally, I'd be happy with that group and keep the barrel. I've heard people say that most 18" use intermediate or RLGS, but my research has found that most offer the MLGS which has made my choice of a new barrel more difficult because I want the longer gas system, it's just offered in nearly as many barrels of 18". I'm not opposed to 20" but trying to keep the weight down and don't want less than 16" myself.

Strelok Pro is what I am using and left it at 100 it will match the reticle for holdover within reason or just dial it in.

I swapped out the 18 mid gas for a 20" rifle gas. I talked about it in a post but didn't update the first post/list. It's the BCA 20" 1:8 5R heavy. Rifle weighs 9lbs +/-
Fired some Hornady black today after adjusting my FT Hammerhead to it lightest setting. I'll post pics later when I can resize them to upload, but what a difference. Huge embarrassing group.
Snowhack, How are you liking the BCA side charging upper. I'm considering one for my build, if/when they're back in stock. I want to put my 18" Wilson Combat barrel on this baby for a nice hog/deer gun.

I love it! It's a lot more robust than a normal upper. Thicker walls that match up semi well with the slim hand guard tubes I use. I'm very happy with it. The charging handle moves with the BCG when fired so if you're a lefty don't get the righty, it will smack you. I prefer the side only one compared to the hybrid that has the rear t-handle too. More purpose built and not cluttered.
I should point out that the standard bench vise tooling meant to wrap around standard uppers so you can put them in a bench vise when tightening up the barrel nut will not fit around this upper. It does have flat sides which I am assuming are for that purpose but make sure you have some old leather or rubber to keep the vise jaws from marring up the finish.
Finally got the optics I wanted. Went with the Vortex Diamondback Tactical 4-16x44 MRAD. Outstanding scope!! Looking forward to stretching it out to 1000m. I have some orders from Midsouth and Powder Valley coming soon so I'll be busy working up a load or two.
