Even a blind pig will find an acorn, every now and then.
Judging from the results most people have posted, you can expect anywhere between 1.5 and 10 MOA of accuracy, depending on your particular system. If you have one of the lucky 1.5's, then a 15" gong is within the spread. If, on the other hand, you're looking a 5 MOA shooter, then a 50" inch gong is in the spread. (Mind you, this takes no windage, shooter skills, etc. into consideration.) In terms of ballistics, the bullet will have the energy to reach 1000 yards, but your hold over is going to be quite high. Short answer, yes, it is possible. But not the best choice. You will likely be shooting way more ammo on the misses than on the hits.
If it's true that we are here to help others, then what exactly are the others here for?

Depends. Can you hit at 1000 yards with match grade ammo and the rifle you intend too use? If the answer is no then no wolf fmj can't hit at 1000 yards.

Let me try to rephrase your question so that the answer is not a simple YES.
Without going super technical, our forum brothers and sisters might be able to give us a feel for how often the gong will be hit when using Wolf Ammo versus how often the gong will be hit when using Hornuady 123 gr target ammo. We expect that the Hornady ammo will do better. The real question is Can the gong be hit often enough on a good day that one is not guaranteed a frustrating experience when using Wolf ammo.?

How about hits/$ ? Wolf might be able to win that. Three to one numerical advantage in dollars spent.

Yes, it can. Can it be consistent enough to inspire confidence. No

First time my grandson Indigo ever shot the Grendel at distance was at 600yd gong at the NRA Whittington Center in Raton New Mexico, and he hit it his 3rd shot, then consistently rang it. He had shot 10 rounds at 100yds to get use to the trigger and scope, then once he hit the gong at 600, he probably hit it 35 out of 40 shots. We could not shoot at the 1000yd Buffalo that day, but I have no doubt the rifle was up to it even with Wolf ammo

all with Wolf, it was the only ammo I had there that day for him to shoot. I had him to hold on the top edge of the gong just below the hanger and on the 3rd shot he started hitting the gong. Kid has fired M1 Garand before, shoots air rifle regularly, he has marksmanship skills at 13yrs of age

My rifle is a heavy straight flute 18" barrel I bought from Classic Firearms for $95 and tried to be careful putting the rifle together. I scrubbed the new bore with scalding hot soapy water and a new brush, then ran old denim patches over an old 6mm brush with Marvel Mystery Oil up and down the bore until it got clean and shiny before I put it on the gun. First ammo I fired in it was 80 rounds of Hornady Black, ran a patch every 10 rounds, and now all I do is run my bore string cleaner through it after spraying G96 spray down the bore and cleaning out the action after range time. 300 rnds of Hornady SST and Black fired in it to date and probably 200rnds of Wolf to date. I have fired 20 rounds of Berger Fed Premium 130gr at half at 100 and 200yds. Shot a solid 1.25" 5 shot group at 200.
Sig Whisky 3, 3-9x50, Aero Precision slick side upper, Toolcraft Bolt carrier, Monster Bolt from the group buy.

I've gone 3/3 on a 24" gong at 1k yards before, though I couldn't tell you what the group size was. I've yet to hit an 8" plate at 1k with Wolf.
From what I recall with my rifles 5 shot groups at 100 yards 3 will be about 1 -1.5moa, a 4th one will be right inside 2moa, and the 5th will be somewhere inside 3 moa.

I am starting to think Wolf might not be as bad as some are saying. Seems are those who actually use it get ok results.
It all depends on what your definition of "OK" is. Anything over .75 MOA in a 5 shot group for me is unacceptable, be it the ammo or my skills that day.
The spread is simply larger with Wolf than with Hornady Black. As an example, Wolf shot out of 25 rifles in 5 shot groups, the average group will be 2", with a spread of 1 MOA to 5 MOA. Yes, there are a few members here that have managed to have a rifle that will shoot wolf at 1 MOA... Most don't come close. I have 5 barrels to shoot out of and the best group is 1.5 MOA, of the 5 barrels, probably a 1.85 MOA average. When you are used to printing .5 MOA groups or less, even 1.5 looks like crap. The same 25 rifles shooting Hornady Black will have an average group of 1 MOA, with a spread of .3 MOA to 1.5 MOA....Because, yes, some rifles just don't like Hornady Black.

Wolf is $5 a box, Underwood controlled Chaos is $40 a box, Fed Premium 130 Berger is $30 a box, bottom line, Wolf shoots pretty darn good for $5 a box.
Being able to afford for my grandson to learn marksmanship and gun safety and proud that he was able to hit 600yd targets his first time out on the long range with a rifle I built from parts for a very reasonable price, PRICELESS

Hornady Black - $.84 per shot. Cost to hit a 1.5 MOA plate at 600 with a properly zeroed rifle and dope - Wolf - $2.42. Hornady $.84.

Sticks Wrote:Wolf - $.24 per shot. +1 This also follows the thinking on why we end up spending more on low cost / low quality barrels than on higher cost / quality barrels. All the load development and repeat visits to the range add up and the $65 barrel has become a $300 dollar barrel that still can't shoot as well as the higher end barrel. Yes, there is the occasional 1 out of a dozen that can shoot "acceptable groups". That doesn't make the other 11 worth it, though.
