10-4, its healthy to have a calling in life I'm so thankful that like the OP I can walk out the door and shoot. I just don't have as comfortable of a chair though!!

LOL......just caught what you were referring to...not sure what that old chair was doing out there but I definitely don't use it for shooting except in my deer stand....my concrete shooting table sets up pretty high to clear some high spots in the ground

+1. WIth the group buys, faxon and BA and PF type mfrs there are also some middle-road economical but still pretty good ones out there also. Don't go for the bottom of the barrel or you will wind up in that same place.

I appreciate the advice and I thought long and hard about buying the BCA upper but decided to roll the dice and I'll man up and let everyone know if I come up snake eyes.
I have a Primary Arms 4x14 on one of my Daniel Defense AR's and some say PA optics are a POS but this optic has been way above what I expected for around $200.00.

Since this thread is going so well I might as well add that I am considering a Monstrum scope for optics ��

I've got one for you if you want it, with the mount, 1-4x24. They sell them new for around $150.

My brother left it (passed away recently) and I'm taking care of all his stuff. $120 and it's yours with the mount.

I wouldn't even use this for a back-up in my DM courses on my spare rifles, unless I was giving a demonstration in how these types of optics are total garbage.

He had a lot of cool things that were of very high value, like an Hk94 1985 import, some ARs I built for him, some unique pistols and other firearms, but he also had some things that are clearly from the gunshow or Sportsman's Guide that looked like a great deal without checking with me first.

You are buying a bottom dollar no name scope with a whopping 12 month warranty. The odds are real high that you will be taking advantage of that warranty...frequently if you have any sort of shooting schedule exceeding 100 rounds a month.

Let us know the end cost of ammo that was sent to the wrong location, amount of time the rifle was down waiting for the warranty to be fulfilled, ammo used in re-zeroing the replacement or repaired glass, time back and forth to the range and changing out optics.

Double what that thing costs and get a good optic with a Lifetime warranty (places that offer lifetime warranty, especially transferable) have a stupid low return rate.

Primary optics and Vortex have different lines. Some are crap and will not survive AR use...but have lifetime warranty. Some lines are good, will survive AR use, and still have the lifetime warranty.

My money was tight and I needed multiple optics. I have been running 4 from here [ http://aaoptics.com/Refurbished-_c_93.html ] for over a year and only one went back, and I am still not convinced there was a problem with it, I just did not have time to do further testing the correct way. The mount was replaced when the scope came back. My cost was one way shipping.

My recommendation with Monstrum is to run like hell rather than wasting your money.

Take the money you would spend on an optic like that and put it towards a good mount or a Leupold.

There is literally no reason to roll a bad set of dice with all the sides having 1 or no dots on them. We know what it looks like.

This isn't something I read on the internet and am just trying to sound cool, I literally have that garbage in my possession. You should feel the clicks on the turrets. Reminds me of those little plastic v stops on a cheap piece of gear from China.....because that's probably what they're using.

When you subject a rifle optic to the multi-recoil impulses of the AR15, if the gears that drive the erector are not held in place by very stout springs, the erector will not stay in place and will also suffer from backlash when you got to attempt to zero it.

Backlash is when cheap gears don't even move the erector as yo dial because the dirt quality of the springs takes a memory in position, and doesn't move the reticle.....until you fire again....sometimes.

If I was a super villain, I would have my own stealth drone force whose primary mission profile would be to send Hellfire missiles into the warehouses that make this garbage, (along with the Indian call centers pretending to be IRS or computer refund departments).

They are using a different flash hider now. They used to use A2s on all their builds. OP's build looks pretty good.

I have 16in BCA Grendel upper. It shoots fine. They are a pretty good company to deal with also. If you are a veteran, make sure you watch their site next veteran's day because they give out barrels instead of free lunches like Chili's.

The spec calls for 7mm wide slots... mine measured anywhere from 6.55mm to 6.75mm. I could not get any of the M-Lock attachments to fit. I sent an email to Bear Creek warranty. We will see what they say and how they handle it.

Buy what you want and put it together how you want. I've put together a couple Grendels with BCA barrels and have had no issues.

I had saw several threads mentioning the M-LOK openings being out of spec...I covered the M-LOK openings with Magpul type 2 rail covers and the fit is tight and only plan on using one of the M-LOK openings for a bipod.

Lower is sitting at my FFL, mags came in, and ammo should come in on Wednesday. I'm still undecided on optic but Mueller and Althon scopes are thrown into the mix. I have a Primary Arms 4x14 FFP scope I may throw on for now.

Went with a Vortex Crossfire II 6-18x44 AO Rifle Scope for my optics and it is on order and hope to see it soon. Paid $189.95 shipped to my door from Optics Planet....have ordered from OP many times and they almost always give me a discount when I ask for it.
Thought about slapping one of my other scopes on my 6.5 but will just wait on the new optics....kind of like knowing I have a present under the Christmas tree.

I was told on Facbook messenger that there is a new manager in the warranty dept.. but it appears that is making little to no change.
