12.5 PSA Build

Just finished setting up this gun. Haven't shot it yet, need to sight in my muzzleloader this week so I'll get this one zeroed then.

I used one of the new P80 lowers, it's a bit bulky but fit is good to the PSA upper and feels rugged.

The overall length from muzzle to back of receiver extension is 26.5" so I put a magpul vfg on it.

Put magpul mlok covers on, which I really like, has nice grip and keeps your hands off bare aluminum.

Tailhook Mod 2, this thing is awesome, can't recommend enough for pistol builds. Got it on Big Daddy Unlimited for $104

I'll report back with the range results, haven't done any accurizing (bedding barrel, polishing feed ramps, etc) but plan to after first range trip.

I just returned from the range and had good results. After sighting in my muzzleloader I zeroed the new 12" psa upper. Shot 20 rounds messing with the gas block and finding my zero. After that I took it out to 100 yards and shot two 5 round groups:

Shooting 100g Wolf Classic

1st group 1 1/2" @ 100yrds

Im pretty happy with those results! I wanted to shoot more but it was 28F with a breeze in my face. Now I think I'll hold off doing any accurizing until I get a few hundred rounds through it and see if it still shoots as good.

With that 1-4 scope I couldn't see my hits at 100 so when I walked out and saw the groups I was pleasantly surprised.

Speeking of the scope, I do have a couple gripes.
The turrets don't lock and the clicks are pretty weak.
The magnification ring is way too tight.

Other than that its reticle is nice and thin, the illumination is daylight bright, and the glass is half way decent like a vortex strike eagle.

What scope mount is that? Looks like a fairly high one. Great groups with Wolf. I've got 640 rounds coming to test my new build with.

It's a Primary Arms mount, the el cheapo one you get for like $20. I've been meaning to replace it but It's held zero for about 500+ rounds.

Over 26" OK. Under 26" not OK. Up to you to determine the logic on that.

In NY, not OK no matter the length. It makes it an "assault weapon". Apparently that feature will kill you deader, so not allowed. It's too scary.

Yeah, I think the vfg must add 'extra' terminal assault velocity on short barreled weapons.
