Help me decide on a new optics please.

Vortex glass, I looked through a 1-4X24, has anyone seen a distortion ring towards the outer edges of the glass ??
They have lots of great features but after seeing that, I have'nt look back at one...

Was it a Razor or Viper PST? I've heard that the 1-4 Razor has tunneling, while I the Viper PST does not. The 1-4x Viper PST is a great 1-4x scope, with clear glass, a reticle that can be easily seen on 1x without illumination, and great turrets.

You are free to be the guinea pig that buys a Falcon Menace to tell me what you think of it though. I wouldn't mind that.

well this seems like a good time to stop being a lurker. I have a Menace on my 6.5 (also, my cousin and shooting buddy has one on his .270. his experiences mirror my own)

The whole gun is one big experiment for me; first FFP optic, first mil-dot(ish) optic, first Grendel build.

Impressions? Very good glass, not uber high end Euro standard, but good transmission, no distortion at full power, etc. Slippable knobs, 30mm tube, mil/mil Reticle is VERY fine. great for long range plinking or hunting but forget snap shots. the new 5-25 has an illuminated reticle, something i think should be required reading for every scope everywhere. nailing a 10x10 square at 450 yards is laughably easy. FFP is just....so damn cool.

Durability? dont really know. haven't abused it like my aimpoints but it did fine during a range session during a fairly heavy rain. no fogging, no leaks etc. Turrets clicks are a little mushy but clicks are very tactile and audible. zoom ring is very tough to operate esp in the cold. havent fussed with the turrets too much but did do a tracking test my first day with it and seemed just fine to me. returns to zero fine.

I'm very torn on my next optic. I want to save my pennies and get something like a nightforce but with offerings like the PST, new 5-25 menace, SWFA, and others, it's hard to spend $1500 as a recreational shooter. sorry for the stupid long first post
