Monster 20" build

Here is my build with the Monster 20 group buy barrel. It replaced a BCA SS 5R 20" that shot pretty darn good after i did some hand lapping of the bore and crown. This monster on my first 15 shots at 85 yards shot .55" with 6 shot group with factory black ammo. I am more than happy. It going to be a beast after the new year when i start to develop loads for it. Can't wait to get out to the range so i can get her zeroed at 100 yards. The 85 yard test shots was out near my mom's house.


This was a semi budget build. I could have chosen some more affordable parts than some of the ones i used, but the parts i put a bit of money in where the ones i felt matter the most. The barrel from BFT group buy is a amazing value! Would love to see a 22" from them.

She was built mainly to shoot out to 600-1000 yards at paper and steel, but she is now light enough to hunt with if i don't want to carry the weight of my 450BM

Did you scrape off the coating on the barrel and other components? If so, was there any particular reason why?

Not on the barrel. It was just coated over than 120 grit sand was done to that coating. But on the other parts more sanding done to get done to some bare metal in spots than a light coat of peral was applied. The reason is look called battle scared. Just make parts look used or like that have taken a beaten. I also like the looks the technique.

Just little update finally made my stencils. Added a little Horde pride. The symbols on the upper receiver i sprayed pearl white in the stencil and the ones on the mags i put the stencils on than removed the paint from in side the stencils and than polished it a little.

Thank you. All the paint used is a high temp automotive paint i bought from local automotive paint supplier.
