Drop Chart? 12.5”

I’ve got s 12.5” AR I’m running a Leupold VX-R with the .5 mil, seems like I should expect around 2500 FPS based on research, no chronic do I won’t know for sure. What’s the best website/app for me to create a range card for my drop? Not planning to be a sniper but I’d love to ring some steel a lil further than most would except from a 12.5” SBR

Sterlok pro works good for me but without knowing the real world speed of the round any drop sheet a ballistic app gives you won't be correct.

Also your going to have to shoot 100 grain bullets to reach 2500fps out of a 12 inch so your not going to have great bc's for going real long with it.

Your 100 grain options are Wolf and they are not real accurate by nature. Next is the 120 American Eagle, Good ammo, but pricey. Now you are in the 123 class where it's affordable, and good BC with either the American Gunner, or Hornady ELD. But your speed drops to the mid 2200s to 2300s...but your range and accuracy is going to be out past 800y.

123 ELD running at 2250 will get you to 800 yards at sea level and still be supersonic. The higher in altitude, the longer it will stay supersonic.

Vortex has a calculator on their website that allows you to plug in your information, https://lrbc.vortexoptics.com/#!/, and will give you a chart. Factory 123 SST's out of my 12" gun average about 2240. Your setup will likely provide different performance, but this should give you a rough idea.

I’m going to start out at 2250 as an estimate and see how it goes. What zero did you use?

JBM Ballistics Calculator has worked relatively well for me, so long as I put in good info. I primarily use the regular Trajectory one.

If you don”t want to adjust the reference load data, go to ammoguide.com (http://ammoguide.com/?catid=456 for the 680 Grendel loads, of which 111 are for 100 gr bullets). The reference load info will be pre-filled for the load you select, provided a barrel length is posted too. Then, all you need to do is change to your load and charge weight.

I use a 100 yard zero. I also use Strelok Pro for a ballistic calculator downloaded to my iPhone. Pretty handy for the field or as a quick reference. I think it was $10 or $12 and well worth the investment.

2234 fps AVG
2259 fps High
2202 fps Low
ES 57 fps
SD 13.0 fps
25 shots

82.4 degrees F, 29.95" station pressure, 1644 feet elevation

My 12.5" Lilja runs the 129 ABLR @ 2145 fps w/ 8208. Current deer load.
Factory 123 SSTs run @ 2250 fps
123 SSTs & CFE run @ 2275 fps
123 Scenar & AR-COMP run @ 2300 fps

That should give a good baseline.LabRadar used here also.

Nikon has an app, SpotOn. It's designed for their scopes, but also builds a very accurate ballistics table. I've used it out to 700yds with great success on several rounds.
