What would be the primary use of one? They have the entire pistol kit for 399. I already have a 20" and am in the process of assembling a 18" build. I think I could hunt with it in my state if I am reading correctly. I read a few reviews and everyone seems to have pretty good experiences with it.
"Handguns, other than muzzleloading handguns, must have a barrel at least 4 inches long and must fire a bullet of .243-inch diameter or larger. The handgun cartridge case, without the bullet, must be at least 1.16 inches long. There is no maximum cartridge length for those used in handguns."
Thoughts??

I think PSA designed it primarily as an Indiana deer slayer. Or at least that's what I've heard. 
Seriously, folks are hunting with them. Plus, IMHO, they're just cool to own.

Are you in sales? HAHA. Thanks for the reply. Ever since I got the email last week I keep clicking on it, but haven't bought it just yet. If nothing else it will be a $450 AR pistol and I can't lose too much.

I just ordered that kit Sunday night after drooling over it for a couple months. This will be my first 6.5. I had an AR lower laying around and honestly could not stand to build another 5.56 since I have 6. I really, really like the 10.5” AR 5.56 pistols. Some of the most fun you can have shooting. Insert you lovely, helpful people of this glorious site. So, I figured 12” of a moderately heavier bullet in the same package, why not? Mine will be used predominantly for paper punching with side gigs of pig hunting and semi-rural hd.

I was on the fence with this kit when it came on sale I figured why not. Mine it on the way.

I have a stripped lower at home, I have been resisting this temptation successfully for a couple of weeks. You guys are not helping. Why would a guy with five 6.5 Grendel rifles need a 6.5 Grendel pistol? BFTs new GM group buy 12 barrel and Monster bolt has my attention.
To answer my own question, I dont need a 6.5 Grendel pistol but I think I WANT a 6.5 Grendel pistol.
Im sure Im not the only forum member with this problem.

I can tell you that a 12.5" Grendel pistol makes any other hunting weapon obsolete, unless you're looking for something beyond 200 yards for large game. Whitetails/mules within 400 are fair game, as are any smaller game within that envelope. Large Elk/bear hunters aren't looking at AR pistols anyway.
These things perform well beyond their assumed envelope, and can easily clang steel past 800.
So, the question is, (especially considering the price) why not?

I love my 12.7” group buy pistol. It is light and handy and accuracy is great for such a compact piece.

You NEED a Grendel pistol because you don't HAVE a Grendel pistol. Seems like we had this conversation a few months ago, or maybe it could have been someone else.

Can someone give us a total weight of the upper from psa?
Thinking about picking up the kit but would like to know how much the complete upper weights in at.

Mine came in on Thursday. Honestly, fit and finish are pretty solid. Obviously not at the LaRue level, but for sub-$300, I'm genuinely impressed. The adjustable gas block is accessible right through the holes in the rail, so that's pretty sweet. As just an upper, it was lightweight. Then I through on a PST Gen2 2-10x ha. Have yet to be able to shoot it, have a Rugged flash hider on the way so I can shoot the suppressor at the class 3 range until the ATF gives me my permission slip.

I am torn on what to use for optics on this when I get it. Will start with s red dot but I like reach so a scope is likely. I have a PA 1-6 on my 16 but as much as it fits the bill I may go 4-20 scope. I already have it and it weigh the same.
What are the rest of you going to use?

I had a spare 1-4x20 lying around so that's what I used on my 12" PSA 6.5G.
If this doesn't work I'd bump up to the PA 1-6, good bang for the buck.
I have a HUGE 4-24x50 scope on another .300bo carbine and it's too much glass, I'm thinking the 6.5G could make use of that much power but I'm wondering if that's too top heavy for a 12" braced pistol. I may swap 'em anyways and see.

a 4-24x50 sounds like a good reason to put together an 18"+ Grendel.
1-6x or 1-8x is probably perfect for a 12-12.5", I just like the extra magnification of my 2-10x. Probably a little heavy, especially when I get the suppressor put on there. My 18" has the PST Gen 2 3-15x.
