Hind sight always being 20/20 I kicked myself in the back side for not just following what I was instructed to do by horde members, that way if I ruined it it was my fault having a gunsmith or unattended gunsmiths assistant ruin it makes it taste a little worse and the fact that instead of offering what the barrel was worth new because it was a brand new barrel he instead offered to ream to a creedmore and then says Ill need a bolt to set headspace I have a couple for sale. He actually tried selling me a creedmore bolt, instead of saying look Ill ream it to a creedmore and throw a bolt in for your troubles and our mistake. Maybe its just me but if you mess up you make it right somehow, call me crazy...

Throw out the ruined barrel and buy a new one.
Or, let a 'gunsmith' try to turn it into a Creedmoor barrel, ruin it, charge you as much as a new barrel would cost, then refuse to return your money when you find out just how badly he ruined it.

I did buy a group buy 20 monster barrel already to replace the ruined bull barrel, am in the process of putting it back together and making it California legal to actually get it out to the range. Im going to hang the ruined bull barrel in my garage as a reminder and as a conversation piece when I have friends over shooting pool.

Your a better man then me, he would have been buying me a new barrel of my choosing or removing my size 13 boot from his hindend for pulling a stunt like that and ruining my barrel.

Hes going to pay me for what the barrel is worth, he was trying to backhand me and make money at the same time by trying to sell me a creedmore bolt after they screwed up. I didnt put my foot up his back side because I expect people to do whats right, my mistake, I should have stuck my foot where the sun dont shine.

Yeah....I'm in the "Your assistant just bought a barrel." camp. I'd have not left until I had the total cost of getting the original barrel in my hands...cash.
Down side is nobody knows who made the barrel. Could be one of the bad Saturn runs, or BCA. Might have been a high end barrel. I'd fight for total cost of the rifle since it was a gunshow purchase.

No way to make it into a creedmoor barrel, not 1.2 inches in diameter. Could make it shorter like 16 inches with a midlength gas system

Your first clue about someone representing themselves as a gunsmith would have been their trying to shove a 6.5 CM into a small frame AR-just isnt going to happen. CM is a large frame or Gen 2 frame proposition only. He knows not of what he speaks!

Precision Firearms , are you talking about cutting the barrel down and rereaming a new 6.5 Grendel chamber ? Basically taking it from a 20 barrel full length gas system to a 16 barrel mid length gas system.
Also if I understand you correctly a creedmore barrel is 1.2 in diameter? So a Grendel bull barrel being .98 or even 1 wouldnt have worked anyways ? If I understand this correctly that just tells me that not only his helper shouldnt be gunsmithing neither should he.
Bob , he wasnt trying to fit a creedmore ar10 platform into the ar15 upper exactly . His helper messed up on the finish reaming of a 6.5 Grendel bull barrel, the gunsmith then told me he could just run a creedmore reamer in it and turn the barrel into a creedmore barrel for a future ar10 build, but I didnt know if that was even feasible thats why I asked you guys here who would know for sure.

Did you ever settle this with the gunsmith? Was it to your satisfaction? If not, please pm me and I will send you a new barrel, muzzle brake and rifle length gas tube that has been sitting in my safe, free of charge.

Trapper, thank you so much for that offer I surely do appreciate it, I will PM you shortly,the gunsmith and I have not settled on anything, basically because the barrel wasnt stamped as far as who made it, so we havent agreed on what its worth is or was should I say and it seems hes been ignoring my last couple emails. Thanks again this is a very welcomed suprise and kind gesture for you to make.

Wow trapper thats faster shipping then amazon.. you know, somebody told me you were a nice guy but I cant remember who it was. 😁. I do have to say I dont think Ive been anywhere in person or online where people genuinely want to help you with something for nothing in return like here on the Grendel site, you dont normally see that anymore in the world we live in. Blunt force trauma helped me out a while back and now Trapper, there are good people left in the world. I feel like I should you something in return Trapper.... you have any need for two adult children in their mid 20s who dont seem to want to move out of my house ? Let me know.😀

I have no doubt that turning off the WiFi and smashing their dinner plates would make them cry and then mommy would put them in therapy to figure out why dad is so mean to them. Freaking millennials . 😲 Im just going to be happy that Trapper is helping me out and will walk around the 2 bumps on a log on my way out the door to the shooting range.

Insofar as the Gunsmith- small claims court. I'll bet you get a response out of him. If he admitted that his lackey bunged the job, and now he's fighting the replacement, it just turned into a Bartlien barrel as far as I would be concerned. $750 ought to get him motivated to settle on $350 to $400.

Sticks good advice on both situations, I emailed him for the last time this morning, if he continues to ignore me then you are right I will move forward with small claims and see what happens.
