Being a lifelong handgun guy, my new long gun adventure has opened my eyes to....

WAITING!!!!!! As a child I was a terrible hunting partner. I would routinely eat all of my Paw Paw's food before the first couple hours were up due to boredom and being a fat kid and thus end the hunting trip MUCH sooner than was planned. (side note: never killed ANYTHING on any trip....shocking I know). So, the concept of having to wait on backordered items, especially optics, is one that I am not fond of in any way.



Of course the optics that go for 1k and multiples of 1k are around to be had, but 500 and under optics with strong value released within the last year??? Fuhgettaboutit.


I'm starting to see how friends of mine with multiple kids can still afford the scopes they have. They've been in the game so long they've figured out that if you buy a $500 scope that's backordered for 8 weeks you're down 500 right then. But, if you save 100-150 a week for 8 weeks you can get a 800-1200 dollar scope without feeling the 500 pinch and get your scope in the same amount of time as the backorder. LOL!!!


I guess I'm just used to the handgun world where there are so many products that most anything is not only available, but they are discounted like crazy just to get you to buy them. I'm gonna have to work on this patience thing. Thoughts and prayers guys.... thoughts and prayers.

Trying setting your goal date for black friday saving each week as much as you can and in the meantime go out and handle as many optics as possible and narrow down the best optic your money stash can afford, then if your lucky you may be able to score a minor discount on a better optic than what your wallet can afford at the moment.

It's a tough battle when patience goes head on with fugality.
