On precision sight I see a couple different options. What are the pros and cons of 720 muzzle targeted crown and 920 muzzle targeted crown? They also have many different types of barrels which makes me wonder what the difference is.
On the other hand BA has a sale going on where if you spend a certain amount it comes with a receiver as well. I do not have to have the best of the best I just want to build one to where it will be accurate for me to 600 yards. Being i no nothing on the different barrel makers makes it just that much more harder for me. IS a 20 inch barrel enough to be accurate at 600 or should I just get a 24 from precision as BA and odin does not list a 24

A 12 inch barrel of quality will be accurate to 600, just slower bullet speeds.
I compete with rifles starting at 18" shooting out to 900y.
Barrel length is all about what you plan on doing with it. The longer the barrel, the more weight (especially if you get a heavy profile), and hiking through the woods/brush, is an additional factor to keep it from snagging.
The longer the barrel the more muzzle velocity you get (typically, I have an untypical 24" that is woefully slow). The more MV, the less room for error farther down range (less drop and wind drift).
You also need to give us your definition of "Accurate". You are the majority of that accuracy, the rifle, unless it is really shoddy work is inherently accurate at about 1.5-2 MOA (based on what I have read on others rifles, barrels, et al for the last 12 years and my own experience). My definition of accurate is consistent .5 MOA with good ammo (another huge part of the equation) if I do my part.
If you want to ring a 12" plate (2 MOA) at 600 yards, a $200 upper will work. If you want to print 2" groups on paper at 600 (.3 MOA) you had better quadruple your budget, and have the skills that only about 2% of the membership here.

The PF barrels... 720 is IIRC 0.720" basic barrel diameter, the 920 is 0.920", ie thicker and heavier. Target crown muzzle is typically an 11 degree angle cut in the tip from edge to bore... gives you a slight cone at the tip, good for accuracy.
Shorter than 16" and you have to deal with either being an SBR (federal permission/tax stamp/long wait) or making it a "pistol" or pinning/welding a muzzle device (for the 14.5" bbl) -- I'd stay between 16" and 20" if I were you.
The 20" BA barrel, fluted, is a nice lighter weight barrel shoots well, priced right. PF is definitely a good barrel, Criterion, Lilja or Krieger. Our equipt exchange section has green mtn barrels in a group buy.
I'd just do the ones that use a 0.750" gas block as those bbls don't have to be the real heavy ones. and with 5/8x24 threads on the muzzle tip.
Me personally, I like the Midwest Industries free-float handguards they are strong light and go on easy, good quality and good for first-timers.
Get a low-profile gas block, an adjustable one is real nice but not required.
For a 16" barrel get the mid-length gas - gas tube style, not carbine.
For 18" probably the "intermediate length" but opinions differ.
For 20" get the rifle length gas style.
I'd also recommend a VG6 65 Gamma muzzle brake, it helps in recoil and muzzle control, although again it is not required just a nice to have thing...
Honestly the 16" and 20" lengths have worked best for me but 18ers get a lot of good reviews also.

Look at what the F-class shooters use for 600 yards. They don't use those 30" barrels because they are convenient to carry.

I was also looking for a good 600 yard upper as that is the longest distance at any range in reasonable driving distance. Bought an upper from Grendelhunter, and it works great. Normally I would build one, but after hearing all the horror stories, I elected to buy a complete upper from someone with experience with the caliber and who had good luck with the components he was using. Yes, I might have saved about $100 building an upper myself, but I wanted it to work. I dont have the time to troubleshoot. First trip to the range, without any boresighting, I was ringing the small gongs at 600 yards, every single shot. I was very happy with my purchase. Now I need to find a spot where I can shoot 1000 yards. My only issue so far has been with the magazines (some of the 5 rounders are crazy tight). Got myself a 10 round mag and it had been functioning perfectly.

Josh,
Two questions in your post; thicker or thinner barrels and longer or shorter, all for 600yds.
Thicker barrels are stiffer and slower to heat up. Lite barrels tend to move as they heat up and so your group sizes will probably be bigger, especially with multiple shots. For hunting where you are only going to fire a couple of rounds without the smallest group expectations of target shooting then lite barrel are an advantage.
Longer barrels impart more velocity than shorter barrels. Faster bullets get to the target with less wind interference than slower bullets. Unless you are absolutely accurate with your wind calls (and who ever is?) then longer/faster barrels will group smaller than shorter barrels.
All the choices in your post will keep the bullet supersonic and therefore stable until 600. But longer/thicker barrels will, all things being equal, group tighter than shorter/lighter barrels. The downside is they are heavier and bulkier. One way of having your cake and eating it too is to buy an Olympic-quality short/lite barrel and shoot on calm days.

Primary Arms has Ballistic Advantage barrels on for a very good price. They sold out of the 20" fluted by this morning. If you were looking at those.

Joebobs nonrecriprcating sidecharging upper is what you want works with any ar15 bcg made.

24 is pretty long on a AR. I think 20 would be about ideal for a hunting rifle. I have a 24" and by the time you add on the muzzle break I actually have to collapse the stock to get it in my gun closet. This is the 24" radical btw. I also have a 16" light weight.

I'm liking it so far, although it is being a bit of a pain getting loads worked up for it. A friend of mine also has one and he has gotten sub half MOA.
You can follow my ramblings on this upper on the thread "Dead Center Misses status report".

I have the AR-Stoner (Midway) side charging upper on my 22" Grendel. The upper includes the BCG, so you just have to get a bolt to replace the 5.56 bolt that it comes with. I haven't shot mine a ton yet, but so far I REALLY like it.

Criterion, Bartlien, Kreiger....Pretty much anything that PF sells is high end, and typically shoots great. Just be aware of the lead time. That is a soft estimate, be prepared to wait significantly longer.

I agree with Sticks completely on PF comment. The wait time was long and then got longer but my 20 inch 720 Bartlein is the barrel that all my others are compared to and so far non have made the grade. That sounds like I am complaining but I am not. My other two will shoot better than MOA even with my old dimming eyes on most days.
