A very close friend of mine is over in Mosul right now with the Army and I have talked him into getting a Grendel. Hes asked me to do the shopping for him as long as I let him pay me back. Obviously I wont let him pay me anything. Thisll be a commemorative build for him, his old unit, and his fallen brothers.
For a little background, he was a Marine with the Delta Company 3rd AABN (amphibious Assault battalion) with an MOS of 2141 and a secondary MOS of 0331. For the non military people 2141 is amphibious Assault vehicle mechanic and 0331 is a saw gunner.
Im hoping to build him a rifle that is tank themed in 6.5 Grendel with a few surprises thrown in; such as YATYAS (you aint tracks you aint shit) which is their motto.
If anyone has any good deals that arent PSA, Primary Arms, or any of the super budget companies I would greatly appreciate the help! He gets back stateside in January so waiting for Black Friday deals is an option.

Black Friday sales will probably be your best bet for better kit at lower budget.
Maybe put up a more detailed list of parts and some of us here might now where to find them on sale now.

True....and he wanted to enlist again but they said he was too old (hes only 31 but was 30 when he tried to get back in). So he joined the Army instead and asked for deployment.
If you want some paint work done I would be happy to do it at no charge.
I’m not artistic. You will have to come up with your idea.
I have only worked with my automotive paints and primers but if you want something different I will do my best. I have spray equipment and paint booth at my shop.
Knowing everthing isnt as important as knowing where to find it.
How do you feel about a 9” LaRue quadrail? I’ve got one I’d donate to this cause. I also have a Blade and a tube that could come with it. All are used, and show it a bit. Nothing severe, but if you’re getting it painted, nothing noticeable.

Strangley I just mentioned this elsewhere but though I love the idea and commend the effort and tribute you gotta have him mill the lower. Otherwise you are breaking some serious law and admitting to it on the internet. Sorry if that's a buzz kill but I can't not mention that if you are not aware...

In most states you can give any adult a rifle as long as you believe them to not be a prohibited person. For example, I'm getting married next month & buying my fiancee a Browning X-bolt White Gold Maple Medallion.
I will be giving it to her in lieu of a ring (she's okay with it. In fact, she's very excited about it).

If youre willing to do that I would absolutely LOVE that! But on one condition; would you write a note about the donation and why youre donating it?

In Texas it is legal to give someone a rifle, 80% or not, as long as you dont sell it to them. Once you sell the finished 80% lower it becomes a normal firearm sell and requires background checks and manufacturers FFL. Thats what Ive gathered from my research but I may have misunderstood the law.

Here are a couple of pics of a lower my guys gave me when I retired in July. SOLGW added our department patch and my LEO service dates. I'm sure they can add the logo for you.
