1st post...Polygonal rifling...

I'm wanting to build my first 6.5G and am looking at a Black Hole 20" barrel. I see that they are polygonal rifling. Does the 6.5G like this type of rifling? It sounds like the 5.56 guys seem to think they are in the decent-good range in terms of accuracy. I also understand there might be a velocity advantage to these barrels. What are your thoughts.

No one has really done much testing with them. Polygonal rifle barreling popularity has waxed and waned over the years, but if you look at the last 10 years or so at the National level competition, I can't find anyone running one and winning.

That doesn't mean much, but it does mean there isn't much experience with it overall, and almost zero when it comes to the Grendel!

I've been hoping someone will buy one, and do some good experimenting so we can watch on some one else's dime! LOL!!

Maybe I will have to take one for the team try the polygonal barrel. As long is it can shoot 1.5moa I will be happy.

Some are available, but as far as I know, not in 6.5. Different polygonal, too, as LW uses a male polygonal pattern and most others use a female polygonal.
