50/200 sight in

I have a question for the guys who are zeroing at super-close distances like 25 yards. Do your scopes have parallax adjustments that come down that far? Because when I aim at 25 yards, everything is blurry and there's no way I'm getting a scientific measurement. My scope's lowest parallax setting is 50.

Well my vortex parallax goes down to 30 yards but with the 16 inch I'm useing a red dot for the time being until I build my 12 inch then I will put the red dot on it and put anouther vortex on the 16 inch.

Some scopes you can adjust the parallax down to 25 yards.

We are looking at a difference in impact of 4” at 200 yards. Doing the math tells us that this 4” of difference is just one-eighth (1/8) of an inch at 25 yards.

Better to sight in at the longer range if one has access to the longer range.

Excellent point. Zero for 200, be done with it. With a red dot, what more do you need?

I can't see the target good enough with my eyes to zero in with the red dot at 200.

So I zeroed at 50 where I can see the lil 6.5mm holes in the paper target and know the direction to adjust to get zero.

Now that irs zeroed next time I get to the range I can bag it up and see what the real world drop is at 200 with the red dot and 100 grain NBT.

Trying to zero at 200 with the red dot for me would be a waist of time,money and ammo.

Yea I need too but not many folks around where i live interested in shooting groups are learning to make first round hits at more then 200 yards.

But they sure quick to buy a larger more powerful caliber rifle when they miss are loss a deer lmao.

My scope parallax goes below 10m.

4" at 200 is 2" at 100

2" at 100 is 1" at 50

1" at 50 is 1/2" at 25.

The error shows up eight times larger when going from 25 to 200 yards.

Nonetheless, the magnification factor is a clear indication that one needs to sight-in at the longest range practicable. This fuzzes over small differences in muzzle velocity, sighting error, and so on, making the potential miss distance less at intermediate ranges.

From what the sterlok app gave me, reddot sighted in at 50 gives me a 2 inch hold over at 200, with the PF loaded 100 grain nbt ammo.

Will test it next time I get to the range.

For the ranges I will use the reddot to hunt and defend myself and home the 500 yard sight in will work perfectly

I can get very close to that with my 16 inch AA barrel and my 85 grain trex handloads.
