Ultimately, I found the the 9" handguard too short for my needs. I have since switched the group buy barrel to an FDE Aero builder set with a 12" handguard. The extra rail space works better for my hand placement with weapon light, sling attachment point, handstop, and tripod adaptor plate.

Strong meme. It's strange that you replied. You inspired me to get into 6.5 Grendel and more specifically a short barreled one. You cut through the interweb's conventional wisdom that 6.5G was only good from a 20"+ barrel with good old facts. Thank you!

What's the longest range you have access to?

Even if it's only 600yds, it will be really fun at that range.

500yds with any Grendel barrel length is pretty boring for me, but still feels good when you hear the impact after impact, to the delight of friends and onlookers.

She shoots pretty sweet. Haven't had the best accuracy with factory 123gr SST (i.e., factory SSTs shoot similar to 100gr Wolf at 2 to 2.5 MOA), so I'm probably going to get into handloading to work up something she likes more. The 12.7" group buy barrel has a known issue with scratching brass, but that's mostly cosmetic.
Here's a group using a 3.5x ACOG at 50 yards. I usually shoot 5+ shot groups, but I was trying to conserve the SSTs for a hog hunt.

Longest range that I'm aware of around me is only 300 yards, which it hits with ease. I'd definitely want more magnification to stretch it out to 600 yards. The purpose of this build is a short and light ≤ 250 yard hunting rig (hogs and deer).

BFT, the flashhider is a Surefire Warcomp. It's pretty nice in the dark. With clean burning ammo, there is almost no flash. It mitigates vertical recoil a little, but without a ton of concussion like most brakes.
