I have a Faxon 20" Flame Fluted match Wylde that shoots awesome.
I am def interested in a 10-12" Grendel after seeing these recent builds.

My optic finally made it off the slow rolling Fed Ex truck. No regrets picking this Nikon x1000 6-24×50 scope. It's been a long journey- looking forward to seeing what this rifle can do.

I had the chance to take the Grendel AR out to shoot, get it zeroed a few weeks ago. Not sure why I put the target panel out at about 250 yds.when I knew I had to zero it at 100 or 150 yds.- must have been the desert heat affecting my judgement. We did set up 8" steel plates at 150 yds, and just used those to get a working zero on the rifle. I will set the panel out at 150 yds. next week, so I can shoot some groups and see what my build does accuracy wise.

Shooting 6.5 Grendel for the first time, I was impressed with the round- travels pretty flat, even though the furthest target was about 350 yds out. Getting Hornady American Gunner ammo was a good move- i got two boxes, so i should be left with plenty of brass to reload. After getting a working zero set up, hitting the triple 8" plate stand was easy- even hitting the 12x20 IPSC silhouette at 350 yds. was getting routine. My buddy and I both agreed we would need to set the 12x20 IPSC silhouettes out further next time.

We plan to go shoot next week- I'll be sure to set the paper target panel at 150 yds. We're gonna set the steel at 400 to 600 yds.

Doing a couple builds for my "kids"-Grendel for my son and 556 for my daughter. They want them blinged--one red/black cerakote and one Mako by GunCandy. Any suggestions on applicators?? I'm in Montana so will have to ship anyway. Thanks

Jacob England in MO does the cerakoating for B. Kings firearms. He does nice work- I wouldn't hestite to get custom work from him.

How do you like that barrel?

The Faxon 20" fluted barrel is more accurate than I can shoot. We took my Grendel out yesterday, set up paper targets. I shot a few 1" groups just before I hit bullseye, but them like a genius I forgot more ammo. Next time it will be time for a 200 yard zero.

Just an update- I haven't shot the Grendel much in the last two months because of the difficulty in getting more ammo. I only had 400 rounds 123 gr. American Gunner, and having shot about 100 rds. got me worried when the price went up. But I came back from vacation with 500 rds. of 123 gr. Hornady AMAX and 500 rds. of 100 gr.Wolf. I'm planning to build a 16" upper so I can shoot the steel case without worrying about that Faxon barrel.
