A lot of members of the Horde are watching this thread, nobody want the Grendel dragged through the mud by an unreputeable dealer but unfortunately they are out there. Hopefully, your problems will be worked out to your satisfaction and were caused by someones oversight or ignorance. At this point I don't think anyone should get between you and Close Combat Firearms.
BUT, if this is the cause of someones deliberate misrepresentation somethings can be done. At minimum, I would be willing to send an e-mail to CCF expressing dissatisfaction and hope other would do the same. That's your call.
Keep the faith, I'm sure you'll be out blasting with you Grendel soon, good luck.
Thanks Whelenon, we will see how this pans out before doing anything else, I appreciate the support, Ive noticed the Grendel guys are a tight group, helpful, gotta love that.

"You need to make sure that you do not bring any HI-cap mags into California. You need to make sure that you have a bullet button on the mag release. You cannot use any mags that will hold >10 if you use a bullet button. If you do not have a pistol grip on the gun (you would have to use something like a Monsterman Grip) you can have no "evil California" features but you could still have a non locked mag release in that configuration . Nice! There are so many feral hogs here, that they even allowed shooting them at night as a test and with suppressors. From what I hear, the test went well and we should have a longer night season coming up.
I have a Templar Custom Suppressor that should be to my FFL in about a week. It'll go on my Grendel as my hog rifle. Bring on the night!!

Theres actually a season for hogs? I thought it was open year-round like it is for coyotes out here!

Update, the seller called me and said he talked to Bill and Hornady. He thinks I should send it to AA to have it opened up a bit. He also admitted it was tight when they used it, why wouldnt they fix it then I wonder? grrrrr.... Had this upper for 3 weeks almost and have yet to fire it. Frustrating!

Man, I can feel your frustration. But, you want it right and all the frustration will disappear when you get it back and it runs flawlessly.
When I got my first grendel, I took it out to the range and fired off some AA factory ammo to get some brass while I waited on mine to come in from AA. To make a long story short, when I reloaded them, I bumped the shoulder back .003" like I do for my 5.56 AR's, but when I loaded a round sometimes it would stick and I had to force the bolt back to get it out (sound familiar?). OAL was fine, but the shoulder had to be bumped back to .005" to cycle properly. After that, ran like a champ!
Send it to Bill. He'll fix it up for you.

I did speak to the dealer and he seems to be a decent vendor trying to do a good job. He wants the rifle to work out as do we. The best result is always a happy customer. I have no problem looking at this item and getting it shooting. If it is my barrel then it needs to be done and if it is not, it is not the first or last Grendel owner I have bailed out.
Ever stop and think that there is more to the Grendel. I saw a post asking about the "other chambers" It is a point of contemplation to think that most of these customers consider them to be Grendels, use Grendel mags and fire Grendel ammo often reloaded on Grendel dies.

Deezil, if you really need a Grendel for CA, you'll have to figure out a plan to get a CA legal lower for your upper! No use getting a felony for simply having a rifle that is legal everywhere but where you hunt!
If your upper isn't back, we'll have to figure out what to do to give you a hand!

ugh, I guess Ill have to send it in, I wish the dealer I got it from would have taken care of it when they noticed it was tight, instead of wasting a month of my time with it. Ill call you in the AM Bill to figure out how to get it to ya the best way.
BTW Bill, did you ask them where they got the barrel, or did they say anything about that? They never have to me yet.

Sorry, I should have been more frank. I was implying that by being "by appointment" the chances of him carrying much of an inventory is slim to none, and if that was the case, like bwaites said where has the barrel been for the past couple of years.
Update: It left here for AA today, Bill has been so awesome with all the info and help, Id sleep better if he seen it. So hopefully by next weekend Ill have it back and can actually fire this thing and join the club!
another update, upper assembly made it to AA today, they looked it over, aparently has the wrong bolt in it, when they put an AA bolt in it, it closes fine. Told seller, long story short, seller is buying a new correct bolt. They gave me the option of boxing it up and sending it back today, or waiting for them to take it to the range and test fire it, I said to go ahead and fire it, the bad part, that wont be until next tues or wed, so I wont see the thing for two more weeks.. The good part, I should finally have something that works.
Moral of this story, build one yourself, or buy one new, screw budget builds with used stuff, (this came from a supposed dealer). This thing has been so frustrating, Ive had it for getting close to a month now and still have never fired it. Ugh!!
Whiskey is going to taste good tonight, that much I know!

Roger that. When I replace a barrel or build a new upper, I understand that I am the QC station. With that in mind, I prefer to select quality, reputable components from established sources. One of the only things I have purchased used was my MGI Gen I Quick Barrel Change upper receiver, and that was after a thorough looking over in my hands, fully knowing the wear and use it had gone through. It was a very good buy for me that has seen a lot of usefulness since I can test barrels and break the package down quickly, fitting into much smaller cases than a standard AR15 would fit into.

Ah....yes, trying to use a 7.62 bolt in a Grendel chamber.....won't work so good!

the next one, will have a brand new AA barrel and bolt and other parts.
The seller claims he bought the barrel and bolt together from AA... But that clearly isnt the case, not sure how they fired the thing... oh well. Just want it all overwith and be able to have some fun instead of spending more money!
I hope the seller is paying shipping both ways. Also did they ever send some AA ammo for you try?
they never did send the ammo yet, but he did say he was going to yet when I talked to him on the phone today. I ate the shipping to get it there, I know he is buying the bolt, not sure how its getting back here yet. Find out end of next week when AA is done firing it.
update, got two boxes of AA ammo AND a new magazine from the seller! Then they called later to make sure I got it and wants an update when I get the upper back. They have been good on this process. hopefully by next weekend Ill have it ready for some sighting in!!
