6 year Update: 12" Faxon Group Buy Suppressed Grendel

Very happy to see. I wanted to take mine to the 500 yard range with the leupold ar mod 1 1.5-4x but thought it would struggle. I'm not nearly the shooter you are but I'm glad to know the gun will be capable.

Short Grendels and that scope = no problems at 500 yards, at all. I've got it on my 12.5 G, and had very similar results as LRRPF52, above. Had it to 845 yards so far. Don't hesitate to try it out at 500. I had just over 4 mils of drop at 500.

Aero Precision M4E1 receivers, the newer stuff, LaRue MBT 2S trigger, standard 30-cal A2 on the front of it.

I'm using:

AA 6.5 GREN marked M4 upper Cerakoted FDE
PSA AR15 lower Cerakoted FDE
I have everything from JP and Geissele, to LaRue MBT-2S in my lowers. I've played around with different lowers. Any of the reputable modern triggers will work. I prefer the LaRue MBT-2S for the cost: bang ratio.

If I could have done this one with what's available now, I would use the LaRue Stealth 2.0 upper receiver and 10.5" handguard, have them coated FDE.

This little blaster is an absolute joy to shoot, even at distance.

LRRPF52 is that a 9” handgaurd? I’m struggling with the decision to go 9” or 12”. I’m thinking Aero enhanced. I would like the logo on the barrel to show but don’t want the handgaurd too short.

It's a 10" handguard. Top rail was machined to shred your hands, so I rail covered it.

Should have been a LaRue Stealth 2.0 upper with 10.5" handguard.

Please don't make fun of my feet. I have a rare condition that causes excessive hair and nail growth. I've been working with specialists to get it taken care of, but the prospects don't look good. I have to wear 2 layers of winter socks to bed, otherwise my wife gets scared, plus the smell is a bit unbearable for those not acclimated to the...aroma. I can't use any body washes or soaps with lye or sodium laureate sulfate, otherwise the hair falls out and the nails detach, leaving a pasty-white/pinkish skin pallor that can only be described as human.

I built up the lower that was meant for this from the start, a PF forged lower with 50˚ funneled mag well, installed a LaRue MBT-2S trigger, and Ergo Tactical Deluxe grip.

Time to take it out to the range for some work-ups with long range pills.

You forgot to mention that it has a barrel shroud that would enable to user to spray countless hallo points without burning his/her hand!

Just got back from the range with some chrono data unsuppressed and suppressed.



Unsuppressed with the Bootleg gas system fully open, it wouldn't fully cycle 90gr TNT Federal American Eagle factory load, which is good to know.

Suppressed, it has plenty of gas for the 90gr TNT, enough so that I turned the gas down 3 positions. Ejection was at 4 o'clock unsuppressed and suppressed with the final gas setting, very well-behaved, a joy to shoot. I didn't notice any difference practically between shooting this suppressed and longer-barreled rifles that I've shot suppressed, as shooter's ear suppressed was very pleasant. I don't ever want to shoot it without the can, not that it was crazy unsuppressed. It's not bad at all unsuppressed, don't notice the difference between it and 16".

My younger kids' first shots from center-fire will be suppressed.

Good information and thanks for posting it. My 12 inch faxon upper is starting to work out. Put a 3 lb timney trigger in yesterday. Had issues with 123 grain Hornady in the past but will try them again shortly. I previously ordered a E Lander mag and 120 grain nosler to test out along with installing a H2 buffer. Cycles beautiful. One thing I notices with AA 120 grain ammo. My top reload of 8208 (max according to Hodgdon) was still about 90 fps slower than the AA ammo. Overall, my 12 inch barrel 6.5 Grendel is exceeding my expectations.

75yds. Not bad for a little 12" pistol with a 1-4x scope.

My eyes have legitimately deteriorated in the past year, to the point where things are getting blurry.

The optic doesn't have crosshairs either.

I used a rear bag as well, wedged inside the pistol brace flexible arms.
