Okay gurus,
A few years ago I bought my first AR, it was in the Grendel caliber, and to this day I have not been able to fire a single round with it. Skipping all the boring, gory details, where I am today is this. This rifle started out with a 16" Liberty "barrel", but with all of that I bought a 20" Lilja with rlgs. Now to my question......since I have never put one of these together, other than the gas tube length, what else will I need to change (buffer, bolt carrier, etc.)?

First you will need to go to Brownells and watch their AR build series. Pretty much all of your questions will be answered there and some that you haven't asked. Would help if you would be more specific I don't know what you mean by "rigs". You do need make sure the bolt you have is a Type II for the Lilja barrel. Otherwise sounds like just a barrel swap. But make sure all the pieces match with each other.

Make sure the Brownell’s barrel and Lilja barrel use the same diameter gas block. Make sure there is clearence for the gas block to work with selected hand guard.

The crap Liberty barrel was 16" with mid-length gas system, a bad chamber, but was matched to a .136 bolt. The Lilja is a 20" with a rifle length(rlgs) gas system and uses the same bolt type (.136). As I took this thing apart to deal with the bad chamber, I learned enough, with the other studying I have done to put it back together with the new barrel, I was just curious if there was something more than the gas tube I would have to replace going from the mid-length system to the rifle length system, all else being the same?

Rifle Length System needs a Rifle Length gas tube - longer. That should be the only thing you need to change other than verifying the gas block journal. I would get an adjustable gas block anyways. Supurlative Arms, Odin Works, SLR. Better to have means to adjust the gas than need it.

Your probably going to need a new muzzle device. Chance's are the AA is threaded for 9/16" while the Lilja is 5/8".

I never saw anything about an aa barrel? Is liberty aa?

Liberty was the button rifled barrels and a sister company to Satern. Many Liberty barrels were sold as house brands like Brownell’s and Midway AR Stoner. All the Brownell’s 6.5 Grendel barrels I’ve been around had 5/8-24 twist but I’ve read where some Satern barrels had 9/16-24 twist. To my knowledge Liberty only sold stainless steel barrels in 6.5 Grendel.

I have already gotten a rifle length gas tube, and the correct size slr adj. gas block. As for the muzzle device this Lilja does not have threads for one. So, I think I am finally ready to start putting this thing back together, but the way things have gone thus far, I may have to retire next year to have the time to actually get it done!!

It sounds like it doesn't need anything more than the longer gas tube. I would put it together and fire a few rounds. This way you won't be buying anything you might not need. Wait till you see how it functions before spending any more money.
