montana Wrote:https://townhall.com/tipsheet/mattvespa/...a-n2493321 It is estimated that we have 122 guns for every 100 citizens. If there ever was to be a total gun ban think of the nightmare it would be just to clean up minority neighborhoods in the middle of democrat ran cities. It would require a news black out as it would mean cops kicking down doors on democrats then dragging the families out if they find guns. Far worse than the current problem with immigration and separating families.

...in regard to confiscation, the number of guns owned by Americans is much less important than the number of Americans who own guns.

Looking at the CCW enrollments there's more and more first timers. Especially women

Strike one "cache" and others will split up, bury, hide, conceal, distribute to friends and family.
The Revolution started when the Brits tried to march on and take over a powder/armory cache in Mass. Guess they didn't succeed either!

Obviously, more guns than owners, but tracking them all down without incident...that could prove to be a problem in this day and age of instant communication and social media.

Confiscation requires one main component, a willing public. Are there areas of our country where that is possible, IMO yes, however there are other areas where it is impossible and won't happen. Will we have another civil war over the Second Amendment, that's the $64,000,000 question?????

Even so, we have been seeing significant pressure on the freedom of speech, religion, and association build over the past decade. For example, our Freedom of Speech is threatened more by the current rhetoric against elected officials than the “Politically Correct Speech” movement. Over reaction to the vile speech can threaten a fundamental liberty. Even so, the comments and acts by well known figures (e. g. a mask depicting the bloody severed head of a sitting President - tantamount to a call for assassination) is so vile that the Justice Department and Secret Service must be more active. These less than thinly veiled threats and encouragement thrown around by well known media and loud mouthed politicians are in themselves exhorting a coup at best and civil war at the worst. It must be done with due caution, however, because the act of forcing polite speech in itself can be viewed as an infringement on a right. Where to strike the balance? Keeping the 2A intact and viable goes a long way toward a balance that protects the rest of our freedoms.

Anyway, the answer to your question is: NO* *You may FedEx my $64,000,000 to me at my current address. Cash only, please.
JASmith Wrote:More likely, the 2A will prevent one that might otherwise be needed to protect our right to property, freedom of speech, religion and the other liberties enshrined in the whole Bill of Rights.Threats? Exhorting a coup and civil war? You're really indulging in gross over-exaggeration. And the "severed head" was NOT a call for assassination, as demonstrated by the fact that the person who did it was not arrested. JASmith Wrote:It must be done with due caution, however, because the act of forcing polite speech in itself can be viewed as an infringement on a right. No kidding. I'm not sure how polite speech could be enforced anyway, when the POTUS himself is one of those loud-mouthed politicians sowing discourtesy and incivility, by ridiculing or insulting someone pretty much every day since taking office. You want civility in public discourse? Better start at the top.

Civility starts with the one speaking, not with someone else. There was more incivility from the previous administration, from Obama and Holder but lots of others, than 10 admins IMO. Especially un-civil (and in my opinion, un-american) was the ignoring of the Constitutiion, which he as well as his officials swore to preserve, protect and defend. The President shall take care to faithfully execute the laws of the United States... this is a duty he must perform and Obammster did not, in so many cases.

Just read that link. Since Eric holder gave a bunch of guns to the bad guys, plus guns in the black market, pretty sure there are more guns in this country than is suggested. And probably the reason why no other country has attacked us since Obama gutted the military. Another number not counted is the 80% lowers that allot of folks built with no serial number, thus not requiring a back ground check. As far as talk on confiscation or civil war, no one knows until it happens. Are you ready IF it happens?
bj139 Wrote:Really? Now you are doing it. Telling the truth is not sowing discontent.Oops. Wrong choice of word. :o I did not mean "discontent." The word I wanted is "discourtesy." The current POTUS promotes discourtesy and incivility with his constant name-calling and insults.

Anything over $9000.00 has to be reported and you have to pay the tax up front so provide the proof of payment and we'll go from there. Dilly dilly.
