Grendel Warrior's Shoot at the NRA WC!!

As am I, unfortunately for the headcount on this trip.

I emailed the program and food directors about this to see what they might have as far as weekends... the Prog director just told me today that the weekend is taken up with a big shotgun competition (meaning food is probably stretched then also, but the FD didn't email me back yet) so their rooms are booked, basically his input was the 10-11 would be possible but weekends probably not.

I'm looking at actually 3 things to come together, reservation/use of the range, lodging, and food (for those who don't want to cook/ camp). Since we're a small group we sort of need to fit into their schedule...
Without reserving the range we risk that it would be either full or simply closed.
Without lodging we'd need to find rooms in town, which is not impossible, or camp or RV it.

As a note, there is one founder's cabin open which I was able to get him to set aside (again, 10-11th)... it has 4 private rooms (which I would take one), at $65/night/room (up to 2 people/room), each one has two beds and one has 3. each room has its own shower/bath. Common kitchen and great room area.
If we could fill up that cabin and 1 or 2 guys want one of those rooms that's (each room) either $65 or $32.50/person/night... otherwise if someone wants some other arrangement I can ask...
As far as food, if the dining isn't open or is full then there's always cook on your/our own or eat in town.

So there are options if each one wants to fend for himself/herself... I was thinking to try to make it more of a group activity.

As far as just showing up on some given day/2-days and taking our chances, we could do that most likely on any given weekend or 2-day run... and roll the dice on which range we could shoot at and what we would do. That is of course an option.

So..... what does everyone want to do.

Love the idea of this. The logistics are very difficult to work for me this year, it's 14 hour drive one way, and I'm hunting in North Dakota the weekend before, so I would drive 11 hours nw, then back track and drive additional 14 hrs sw. Not that I haven't done crazy things like this before.

Not hearing any other alternatives, I think it's best we go with what we can, for the 10-11 of October 2018. Granted it's not perfect but seems to be the window available to us at the WC.
I think I've counted 6-7 including me -- The WC is asking for a head count, so this is what I think we have so far.

Anyone else or any corrections please speak up, we really ought to be able to find at least 10 Grendeler's out of this vast forum membership!!!

If I lived in Kansas, I would be going. You're right next door.

Google says its a 27 hour drive for me.
I wouldn't be able to see the target after that.

It's a 3-day trip for me... from northern VA.

I emailed recently with the Program Director and he wants to know what is the head count for lodging. He says the silhouette 1000 yd range is not used a lot so even if we share it there will be plenty of room to shoot.

So, who needs lodging at the WC and who doesn't? This is the list I think of those who say they're going... anyone else can speak up too. Since the # is < 20 any Grendel forum members are invited to go.

If I don't hear anything as to lodging then that shooter will be on their own as to lodging.

One final note, due to some unforeseen big-ticket items this spring I may have to bow out until next time. I'm still willing to coordinate but won't be able to attend this fall.

OK, the call for Lodging requests for onsite at the WC is now closed.

I received one request so the rest of shooters who are coming will be on their own to find a room or camp or whatever, in Raton or at your choice. ps you could still maybe find something on the WC if something is open...

All right you spelling Nazis LOL i have changed it and no it is nothing to do with the dead at least i am not dead yet LOL. It's my kidney's they are stopping working and are functioning at 13% right now and if they drop below 10% then it is dialysis time and that will change what i can and can not do. They have already cut my arm and put in a port so i can start dialysis but i am trying everything to delay it and so far it is holding 13% and has not dropped in the last few months.
I really want to go to the shoot and meet up with you folks and have a great few days and learn more so hopefully it will not drop any lower until after the shoot LOL.
