Gee, guys, the seller has told him he will make it right, give them a chance! He just realized Saturday that the rifle wouldn't fire, and the seller hasn't even had a chance to deal with the issue!

Lets not go hanging people without giving them the benefit of the doubt!

Assembly errors happen, ammo can be out of spec, these are machines built by men, they aren't going to be perfect!

It's frustrating as a buyer, but its fixable! A little patience goes a long way in these kind of situations.

Well, I talked to Bill (who is an awesome guy and very informative!) and the people I bought it from, guys I bought it from claim its one of the first batch of his barrels without the engraving. They are also going to send me a box of the ammo they have used in it. If I could find some reloading dies in stock Id order some but most places are out or dont carry them. Ill have to get some AA ammo to use for the mean time.

But Bill we're supposed to be a Horde and should be allowed to act like it shouldn't we! Just Kidding in case anyone wondered.

Deezil: You said the shop claimed they built it but then they said they bought it straight from AA. Does that mean they just bought the loose parts and then assembled it themselves?
At first it sounded like they bought a completed upper( or rifle) from AA and just were the middle people.
Do you know which particular AA ammo they used when they fired the rifle?

Thanks for the further info and good luck with getting this straightened out.

Lee

PS- I have to second the recommendation to send it to AA if you can't get it fixed otherwise especially if time really starts getting critical.

They assembled it from AA parts supposedly, not sure which AA ammo they used, they are going to send me some that they say works. Im going to try some AA ammo and see how that works out, then if after that it doesnt work, then Ill send it off, or something.

Deezil: Thanks for the update. It sounds like you at least have a good game plan for going forward and hopefully it works out for you in a short amount of time.

Please let us know as you get it figured out.

Deezil Wrote:not here, seattle guns.com, How do I find out if this is an AA barrel or not, thats really the only reason I got it since you cant get one new for months yet. I cant find any markings on it.

Im heading to cali in a month to shoot pigs, and was really hoping this thing would be with me.

If you are going to take your rifle to California, make sure that you are up on California gun laws. You need to make sure that you do not bring any HI-cap mags into California. You need to make sure that you have a bullet button on the mag release. You cannot use any mags that will hold >10 if you use a bullet button. If you do not have a pistol grip on the gun (you would have to use something like a Monsterman Grip) you can have no "evil California" features but you could still have a non locked mag release in that configuration . You need to make sure that your lower receiver brand is not "listed" by name on the ban list and that it is truly a OLL (Off List Lower).

You don't want a fun shooting or hunting trip to turn into a nightmare.

I can give you more information if you need it.

Be safe, be smart and be free to shoot another day Smile

oh crap, thanks for bringing that up, I didnt even think about the hippies running the show down there!! As bad as we have it, its not that bad! I have no clue what a bullet button is, and it has the grip like all AR's.

Thanks again!!

I live in Bremerton and have never heard of that place (till recently). I've asked around. That shop isn't even a shop. It's not even a gunsmith. It's just some guy with an FFL. Hope he makes it right. let us know if he don't.

But didn't Bill say that it wasn't his.

Bloody "match" chamber I note! whatever that may be.

I have no dog in this fight, but if it was me in this situation I would ask the seller to disclose some sales receipts from AA for the barrels. To me it wouldn't really matter if the upper will chamber and shoot the round. They advertised and you paid for an AA barrel.

On the phone Bill said he wasnt 100% sure, if it was one of his he said it would be an early barrel (only ones without the grendel stamp), which is good and bad, awesome barrel, no real way to prove what it is.

And I agree, Bill has no record of them buying a 16", we will see if it shoots good or not.

If you look at his hours, it is by appointment only, which is a red flag imho. Also, is your upper receiver stamped aa.

On seattleguns.com they had great feedback, sold alot of stuff, posted often, figured they would be better than some dude with no history, but I guess you never know. One more reason to buy new if you can. And I wanted to, just wasnt an option.

and yep

Here is a bullet button in action:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VseNzVcIjtc

Remember in California if you have a bullet button installed you cannot use a >10 magazine in the weapon even if you legally own that magazine because you would be making a "fixed magazine" weapon with a capacity greater than 10 rounds which breaks another assault weapon law (felony).

http://www.midwayusa.com/product/937414/...ith-wrench

Do not leave the red part installed in CA or you are committing a felony.

Make sure you lower is not listed on the ban list or you will be committing a felony.

This might make it a little clearer"

But if that is the case, its like 7 or 8 years old, where has it been all this time?

Just because he is a by appointment only doesn't mean he isn't a good guy. He may just be a gun lover that is trying to pay for his hobby by his hobby while holding down a day job. Of course he could just be a jerk too. But the fact he said he would make it right sounds like he is the former to me.
The fact that it is a AA receiver means it is likely that he bought the barrel from there also. It's too bad I am across the country from you, I have Go-No/Go gauges and all the measurement tools to see whats up and in a jiffy we would know what the issue is. I think if it were me, I would send it to Bill and let him check it out for you.
