Opinions on ASC Magazines?

Are the newer ASC mags working good for y’all? Picked up 3 of the 15 round to get me started and wondering if I went thr wrong direction.

They have worked perfectly for me but I'm only during the 5 round asc mags and have put them as back ups to my gen 3 pmag 10 rounds loaded with 5 rounds of grendel I use for hunting and range work now.

Have the high capacity elanders for home defense in my back up 18 inch grendel and they have been perfect now for god only knows how many rounds of federal 90 tnt rounds I use as home defense ammo.

They should be fine. I’ve had to slightly bend feed lips on some in past but they all run good

I normally run 10 round mags in other calibers ASC in 6.8 and CPD on 7.62x39. They have worked great from the start. When I was ordering some ammo they had the 15rnd in stock so I grabbed a few. Good to know on the Magpul. I have a few I will use for backup. Need more than 5 rounds in the gun for the groups of hogs.

If you try the magpul understand that more then likely you will have to modify them and even then you won't get more then 5 to reliably feed out of a 10 rounder.

I have some gen 1 and 2 pmags and the gen 1 would not work no matter how much I modified it.

The gen 2 I i modified but could only get 3 rounds to work properly.

The gen 3 pmags I have all I did was trim a lil off the spring and they run 5 rounds of every factory round I have tryed and now my handloads I'm working on.

Your mileage can and will vary.

Long winded but wanted you to understand it's a large hit or miss chance the pmags will work properly.

But all metal grendel mags I have and or used have been 100% Good to go.

Thanks a lot guys. Only have a few plastic mags anyway. Always been a 556 GI mag kind of guy.

I've always run 10 Round CPDs. I bought 4 of the ASC 15s for a class in the spring. I didn't have time to function test them before I left but did load them to break in the springs. Started zeroing in the class and every single one of them jammed after the first shot. Luckily, as I was loading my truck for the trip, I told myself I'd better grab a couple of the CPDs just in case. I haven't really paid attention to them since because they would have left me so high and dry and I don't need the COAL. I dismissed some of the comments here because I've had great success with their 308 (which I use for 6.5 CM) and 223 (which I load to 2.310 in my 6x45). I should have paid more attention.

If they don’t work out I guess I will try my 7.62 CPD 10 rounders till I can get some Grendel mags coming.

So I've been trying to figure this out and I haven't seen the plain answer that I have been looking for (I am possibly blind though too). Do I need specific grendel mags for my AR or can I run them out of 5.56 mags? It sounds like there are regular feeding issues with most of the poly mags but metal mags feed well usually? Everyone local that I've talked to knows almost nothing about grendel so I'm left high and dry.

I found this issue. It was noted above about bending the feed lips. I just removed the front edge of the mag with a dremel.

Nothing I tried to get the weird looking high capacity CPD to function ever worked.

Yes, you have to buy the 6.5 G specific mags. Some companies mark them as 6.5 Grendel/6.8 SPC.

I have 2 AR Stoner 10 rounder mags that are stamped in small letters, ASC.
I assume that his who makes them, they run perfect, but I did grind down the front
A bit. You can load to a COAL of 2.285, at least I can.

I have both 5 and 10 round ASC and AR Stoner which I am sure are made my ASC and they run perfectly in both of my Grendel's without any modification and yes you can load longer in them than in Elander. I am running them in Anderson lowers.

I use 1 magpul 10rd 5.56 mag and 1 c products 10rd 6.5 grendel mag. Cannot tell the difference in feed between them!

You definitely want them thats for sure. Anything else is a crap shoot at best. Theres no plastic mags because the grendel is so fat they cant get the mag wall thickness thin enough and still have it be structurally sounds. With the metal mags they can. From everything i hear e landers and asc/ar stoner are the top two. I have one of those ross zheng engineering first gen mags to try out thats the only multi cal mag i know of for 6.8 and 6.5 it also can load .223, 5.45, 7.62x39, .458 and probably others im forgetting.

You arent worried at all about accidentally chambering a .233 and setting it off? That would worry me. Not that it would do anything.. But it might.

No not at all because there is no 223/556 chambered weapons in my home and no ammo in that caliber either, I got rid of them when I built my second 18 inch grendel.

Why would I want a 223/556 when I have the best ar15 caliber ever in 6.5 grendel.

I did keep a few of my pmags for testing.

That's how I got the gen 3 pmags to hold 5 grendel in a 10 round pmag.
