I know its recommended for E lander or 6.5 specific mags...

In my experience, you can run 4-5 rounds in a pmag before it really starts to swell and get hard to insert into the magwell. You cannot leave them loaded though, load-empty-repeat. I never had any luck with my metal mags with Grendel.

I get about 9 to 10 grendel rounds in a 20 round pmag to function ok without modification.

I have never had an issue with my metal mags. Do not own a pmag

I have some asc mags I bought from PF and they have been flawless but so has my 10 round gen 3 pmags loaded with 5 rounds of grendel ammo.

Ammo I have used out of the pmags has been eld-m,sst,fusion,tnt,NBT and ttsx, weights from 123 down 90 grain.

Will be working up some loads with the 85 tipped Trex bullets when they get here and hoping they work in the pmag as well.

I modified the spring in my 10 round pmags and that seemed to fix them up I can load 5 rounds and leave the mags loaded no problem.

They do bulge slightly with 5 rounds of grendel but insert into magwell fine, now they won't drop free till at least 2 rounds have been stripped from the mag but for my usage that's not a problem at all.

It should also be noted I have some gen 2 pmags and even with heavy modification they would not work.

If you want high capacity grendel mags then metal mags are your only choice.

If you want low round count hunting and range work mags then pmags will work, just have to test them and tweak them as needed.

Hope this helps sir.

Did you modify the mag any, because i could only get 6 in a stock gen 3 20 round pmag, when i tryed 7 it would throw the last round back out, to much buldge.

I attempted with the 30 round pmag using hornady black and got 5 into it before the mag started to become tight, I didn't want to push my luck, I might try again just to do it. I have a thread in the misc section asking about the lancer mags, I took them to the range to see if they would feed reliably, they didn't. I emailed lancer about making a grendel mag and they told me the polymer would be too thin to make the mag. I have the direct quote on there straight from the email.

Well I would have thought ten grendel rounds would have went in it for sure.

I got a gen 3 20 round and I can get a few more then my 10 rounders but not much.

So figured the 30 would allow at least ten rounds of grendel.

Always good to test.

A5, no I did not have to modify the gen 3 mags. The gen 2 mags will usually take 8 rounds unmodified in my rifles. Two different rifles. One with an Anderson lower and 1 with a billet Franklin armory lower. I generally use metal magazines. Was curious how the pmags would work, since I get reasonable use from them in the beowulf

Same with me I just wanted to try them, they worked without modifying the springs but when I cut it back a hair it seemed to make them work just that lil bit extra.

Funny you got the gen 2 pmags to work mine will not work at all.

It's one of those things I guess test it out and see how it goes.

I do know my gen 3 pmags material is thinner then my gen 2 pmags, not by much but enough to tell by eye when put next to each other.

I've tried a 5.56 PMAG long ago with just 3 rounds, didn't feed at all in my 16" Grendel.

I haven't messed with it since, as Grendel mags have been readily available since I got into Grendel.

This is what I wanted to read and was hoping was the case.

Ya need to learn to read between the lines sometimes... Everyone writes that it dosent work... then you get a post about fat mags... then another about only X rounds feeds, then another about only x rounds even fits in the gun... Cool

We are neutered to 10 rounds here... we are further neutered to 5 hunting some locations. We are still FURTHER neutered to fixed magazine in a AR rifle... SO, my receiver has a P-Mag 10 round fixed. So if I can get 3-5 to reliable function and feed I will be satisfied as this is a hunting/target gun first and foremost.

Notice no mag button in pic.

Should be out here in Komifornia! Every time some one comes up with a fix on a new law concerning ARs, they come up with a new law.

It feeds every time from the mag dropping the bolt. My mistake, I installed the wrong buffer spring, so it wouldn't cycle. Switching to my 25/45 lower. It fed fine with a ASC magazine. Would not at all from a GI mag, but did fine from another plastic mag. Both the ASC and Mag-pull are blocked to 5 rounds for hunting and no problems with only 5 rounds loaded.

Next trip I'll have the spring changed out and know for sure, but see no reason it wont be just fine, with just 5 rounds.
