I've been contemplating getting a suppressor for some time now. In some of my research I've found an item that give me some concern.
"Gas Face"
I understand this to be the pressure from the cartridge causing the gasses to blow back through the gas system and out of the rifle chamber and into your face.
What I am looking for is ideas for reducing this.
So far this is what I have:
1) convert the gas block to a piston set up (I haven't heard of anyone doing this with a Grendel yet, except AA and they currently are only selling out as a complete upper).
2) change to an adjustable gas block and fire single round without the round ejecting preventing said "Gas Face"
3) Try out AR gas vent, lose forward assist, and smoke out whomever is to my right
I'm not sure there are any other ways around the issue any same all input would be appreciated

It's not that bad.LOL I use gas buster charging handles, but there is a cheaper fix using RTV sealant around the charging handle. Just wear shooting glasses and it isn't that bad.
+1 for the PRI Gas Buster charge handle. I haven't noticed much of a difference, if at all with op-rod driven AR's versus DI. There still is backblast from the ejection port, which can't be eliminated in a self-loading design without major redesign. It's only somewhat problematic if you shoot on automatic, where a significant gas cloud chokes you.

Thanks for the info.
During the day I will wear glasses and possibly have more opportunities to shoot more rounds. My main concern was at night time where I wouldn't be wearing glasses. It doesn't sound like its going to be that big of a deal to crank off a few rounds rapidly if I get in the shit.

Correct. If you are firing long rapid fire strings, or full auto, your eyes will begin to burn and water. That's about it. It's bearable regardless.
If you are around brush at night and relying on NVGs you might want to wear some clear glasses. A stick in the eye can end your hunt....

I have both charging handle options as well. They work about the same.
The only time I notice the gas is if I'm shooting cheap ammo in my SBR.
I think Noveski makes an adjustable gas block to handle this, expensive, but I've read that it works well to handle this issue.

That would help somewhat, but as long as you a firing a semiautomatic you will still encounter gas. Even if you were using an externally vented piston system a healthy dose exits the chamber upon extraction. The suppressor is in effect a gas reservoir that vents through the chamber as well as out the muzzle.
I'd would like to try a switchblock sometime. I want something like it for my 10.5" upper. Ideally I wish the switchblock would have children with a YHM flip up gas block.
