Need Tutoring in Suppressors for 16" or 18"

I have a couple of Grendel-faxon barrels, a 16" gunner and an 18" group buy (plus my howa but I think I would leave that alone). If I ever find the money to go for a suppressor, any advice on which one to set up for it, plus any particular makes/models? I know this is pretty general but it's a start for me.
I read about the TBAC-5 I think, a fairly light but s'posed to be good (I know '52 is getting one, that's a plus for it IMO).
But beyond that I'm un-schooled.

ps, do most people set up a gun trust for its ownership?

I run the Thunderbeast Ultra 7 in .30 caliber for my 16" Grendel. Lightweight and repeatable on/off impact.

I used a trust. Mainly because i leave for work for extended periods of time and my wife would be in possession of it while I'm gone. And if i die, my family can keep it. My friend who is single with no children did not use a trust.

I ordered a thunder beast ultra 7 6.5 can. I will be shooting it for the first time in a couple weeks so I'm sure i will recommend it then.

I have the Ultra-7 (6.5mm) and the Ultra-5 (30cal).

I haven't mounted and shot either.

Original plan was the 7 for the 16" build and the 5 for the 12" build.

However, after building a 12" for a customer and shooting it with him I realized HOW LOUD it was and thought the Ultra-5 may not be enough for it. I think I'll put the Ultra-5 on the other build (which was going to be a 16" but I'm selling that in the Equipment Exchange and going to go the 20" build route) and put the Ultra-7 on the 12" build


Both are very lightweight and appear well made

I have a TBAC Ultra 7 (6.5). On a 20" barrel, I could barely hear it over all the other noises on the range.

The only drawback I see with TBAC is the need to drop $125 per brake/hider in order to use the can on multiple guns. Which is why have have not yet tested it out on my group buy Faxon 12.5" barrel.

I also used a trust, for the sake of keeping my family out of legal trouble.

You could buy direct thread suppressor if all your barrels are same thread pitch.

P.s. the direct thread version is the same with the brake loctited into the suppressor.

So, if a suppressor can get into the cards, it looks like the ultra-7 for me then.
I noticed silencer shop has a Single Shot NFA trust, for one item. after it's approved you can add other people onto it easily.
It's apparently all done on line.
Might be the way for me to go...

Just a word of advice, once you go class 3 you’ll want more lol. So a one time use trust might not be for everyone. Just Saying and Capital Armory has a great trust, you can add and drop trustees easy, they don’t need to sign it either.

I went the single shot trust with my Q LLC Trashpanda, I haven't gotten it yet because I am still waiting for it. I am looking forward to it though, it is a .30 cal titanium suppressor. I am sure the ultra-7 will work better for you, but I wanted to try something new and different. The single shot trust is the route to go, once you fill out the paperwork and get your form back then you can add on people that you trust(family member for instance) so that if for whatever reason you need to leave your respective state then that person can takeover ownership of the can until you get back or heaven forbid you pass away for whatever reason your family gains ownership. It is a pretty smart idea when you think about it. I recommend you shop around if you haven't already, I intend to mount my suppressor to more than just my grendel, so a 30cal diameter is what was best for me. Something to think about, as long as you carry a copy of your form 4 with you, you can mount the suppressor to whatever gun you want. The only item that is regulated is the suppressor itself, nothing else is. If you have multiple rifles to mount to, all you have to do is put it on.

I used the single shot trust on my Sandman K. This is true that you may want more.. however you could get 5 single shot trusts for the cost of a regular trust where I live. For me it was worth the ease and convenience of being the only one fingerprinted/picture, however being able to add people onto the trust at a later time without that. Not to mention Silencer shop made it super easy b/c I had a kiosk nearby.. I went down and printed/took my picture on their machine, then left and waited 7.5 months for my stamp to come back. Easy peasy.
