I received a barrel from Classic Firearms. 20" rifle length 5r nitride fluted. I cannot get a factory 123eld black to chamber, it is about 0.10 short, runs into the rifling.
Tried contacting and leave feedback with Classic but no responses from them.
So can you ream the throat, cut the rifling (lands) to load longer in a nitride barrel? Has anyone done it.
I have done my cz pistols 9&40, ppc ar but failed on a nitride czp09 which dulled my mason 9mm reamer.

I've heard that the nitrided barrels are too hard for the standard reamers and it sounds like you've proven it.
All you can do is contact Classic and return the barrel.
Their barrels are made by Bear Creek Arsenal and lately a few of them have popped up with short leads. I have that problem myself; I checked mine with 4 different bullets and the worst case needs to be seated just over .100" short of the normal COAL of 2.250". I have to contact BCA to exchange my barrel.

Classic didn't respond to email or feedback that was never posted on there part, my review of the barrel.
Maybe need to contact bca.
I thought some one might have a special reamed. I will call mason and ask since I have to send in my 9mm to be sharpened. Dave Mason runs a great company.

Badger Classic until they give you a new barrel.
If Mason can make a carbide reamer you're golden. It's likely nothing but carbide will cut it.
If not BCA is the only fix. They probably can't cut the lead either and would have to replace the barrel.

I removed the nitride coating from my own Faxon group buy bbl. extension. Dremel tool, and the red buffing- rubbing compound they sell, Dremel cone shaped felt tip.
It also removed the snake teeth scratches from side of brass upon extractions. you need to get in past the area where the bbl is connected to the extension- LRRPF52 calls it - the BBl. extension meltdown.
Nitride----- I was amazed how easy it came off...
It's not that tough. So maybe buff it off then ream the chamber again--- Only,,,, If they won't take it back. Just a backup idea.
Keep that ext. lubed with the best metal penatrants- if coatings are removed. Lube , and store -lubed.
Just another option..

GjGary, it's the fact, that you would have to repeatedly attempt to contact a company selling parts, to get them to respond to you that makes anyone a grumpy old man. Or at least it does me.
Sneaky one, I am certainly not a metallurgist but my experience with the Faxon Barrel I have, is that I dimpled the barrel with a common HSS bit and it seemed to drill easier than some of the stainless barrels I have. I had expected to have a devil of a time dimpling it but drilled just as I would have any other barrel after SLR told me to do so using their dimpling jig. The nitride processed barrels kind of confuse me with the claims of having super hard surfaces.

Thanks, I just ordered on eBay.
I have a cheep bore scope and really is useless for proper bore inspection

You're welcome. I have a cheap bore scope too and it's also useless. It just doesn't have enough resolution and clarity.
