AR-15 Build

Hey everyone. New to the forum and new to the 6.5 Grendel. I am working on building a custom AR for the first time and chose the 6.5 because I mainly hunt and enjoy long range shooting. Here is a full list of what I have found that I think would be the best of both worlds to make the rifle plenty light to carry around for miles when I go hiking into the mountains to hunt whitetail here in Utah as well as give me enough accuracy to punch out to 1000 yards. Let me know what you guys think since everyone here most likely knows more about this stuff than I do.

I think this is my full parts list. I tried to balance money with quality, going all out on the barrel since that is the most important factor to me. I have a fairly average budget ($2000) because I am a full time college student and don't have money just rolling in. This build will run me about $1600 right now so if you guys do suggest something better, I can most likely squeeze it in. I will also be hand loading most of my ammo, which I do have a bit of experience with hand loading 6.5 creedmoor and 308. I have not ordered any of these parts yet, as I want to get my theory build complete before I go ahead and start ordering to make sure I don't get a part that I will regret in the future. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome aboard! I like the LPK, that blue cerakote makes things interesting. I wonder if the treatment changes tolerances which would be my only real concern. Why not go whole-hog, and just pick up their upper and lower set as well? For the cost of the other components, the build would seem worthy?

I've got an A2 grip, if you lived closer, I'd give it to you.

I think with a little bit of perusing the arfcom used parts boards, you could save some serious coin. Unless you want all new?

Can't go wrong with that barrel. Personally, if it was me, I'd buy the non-fluted version and save the cash. The weight you save isn't all that significant. If it's a looks thing, then more power to you.

Lots of guys report good things with that MB3.

It seems to be a good list of good parts. You're going to like Grendel. You'll have to post pics when it's done! And more importantly, range reports.

I wish I had been loading in college. I'd be leaps ahead.

If you shop around you should be able to find parts cheaper then buying direct from manufacture. Monmouth reloading sells Aero assembled M4E1 enhanced upper and hand guard combos, cheaper then buying direct from aero precision. You should be able to get into a quality build for around 1200 easily.

Other note is lija barrels are tight fits and require temperature differentiation to seat in upper, if this is your first build take that into consideration.

from Primary Arms Rise trigger was 109.99 on sale worth trying for that price. Granite Ridge HAD some good sales on AP products.
PS I have an extra trigger. Could not find the lower parts kit w/o trigger so now I will have an extra.

Check out bkingsfirearms.com. I bought the Aero upper and Atlas hand guard combo for $219. They have very good prices. Also have a BCG and charging handle combo for $109.

Prices have gone up same places I bought mine are $50 higher on the upper combo with handguard might wait the the weekend and check for sales.
