So this is just a mock-up for now to get a feel for where it's headed. The mag catch, castle nut, end plate, takdown/pivot pins, ejection port door, etc. are all Titanium. I'm also getting the SLR Sentry7 Ti adjustable gas block as well. I couldn't help myself - I love the Black/Silver look! From my calculations, the total weight will be just a hair over 6.0 lbs. The stock isn't shown, but it is the Wilson Combat Super-Stoc http://shopwilsoncombat.com/Super-Stoc-C...SUPERSTOC/
I'll be assembling it with my daughter when she's home for Christmas. She's a Marine, been serving in Okinawa for the last 2 years, and this build is sort of a present to her (the gun is still mine, though!).
Looking good! Be sure to report back on how the stock works. Looks like one of the lightest options out there that will support a sand bag. Where did you get the Ti tidbits?
I tested the stock with my LMT buffer, and there is NO play! Completely solid and a nice look/feel. I'll post back here once I have it all together with a full report. I actually found that stock at my local shop on a Wilson Combat rifle. On that one as well it was really nice and tight, and it slides so nice and smooth too!
Do you have a milspec or commercial buffer tube under the stock?
Oh I know the Ti parts are pricey! I’m working on a long term ultralight Grendel project. I’ve got 2A receivers and their regulated ti bcg thus far. Looks like 2A and V-Seven are pretty much the two sources for ti tidbits. Are you going to do a Ti compensator?
Milspec all the way. I looked hard and found the LMT (Lewis Machine and Tool) to be the best for what I wanted. No markings (like on the Spikes Tactical), milspec, and high quality aluminum.
Spikes did have a Ti castle nut, but I didn't see much else.
I would LOVE a Ti compensator, but I haven't been able to find one threaded in 9/16 for the AA barrel, so I have the Precision Firearms SS muzzle brake, bead blasted to match the barrel.
I would also love a Ti BCG, but I'd already spent so much I couldn't justify the cost. I'm not deliberately doing an ultralight build, just "light", I guess. 😁

It has been delayed as the barrel on my 223 Bench beast began to fade, so I ordered a 6mm Grrrr barrel for that rifle and then gave up on 22Nosler and pulled the barrel off that rifle and made that a 223. Black Friday sales didnt offer much in the way of discounts for the lightweight other than an additional 10% off Proof barrels at Stockys and 20% off at 2A, and I got a lot more bang for the buck ordering everything for the 300 BLK pistol Ive wanted to do for quite some time (I think I averaged 35% off!)
That Wilson stock might change my thinking about everything since lighter options out there have questionable sandbagability.

Ok, it took a while because SLR was out of the Sentry7-S Ti for over 2 months, but Todd took care of me and rushed it out as soon as they were ready! Great guys at SLR Rifleworks!
Everything is done but haven't taken it to the range yet - just been too busy. *grumble*

*Edit - Yes, I need a scope - not sure what I want yet, but since it's a semi-lightweight build (just a hair over 6 lbs) I don't want to add the flip-up sights if I'm mounting a scope. Thinking maybe a Vortex Strike Eagle 1-8x, but haven't really shopped around yet - need to really look at them and learn before I drop a bunch of $$$.
Weight: 6.09 lbs
Balance: Front edge of magwell (adding a scope I bet will move it to center of magwell)
Thanks, Tex Nomex! Yeah, every little bit adds up. The V7 handguard was also pricey but very light for a 15", and I opted for the lightweight FW assist as well. The only Ti part I didn't get was the grip bolt.

Lol - no. I should've gotten it - it's only $7. But I was lazy and didn't order it, and now the shipping would be as much as the part. I'm also not sure it would really save much weight (it's only one screw - the Ti is 3.2g), and you don't see it anyway. BUT my OCD may kick in and I may get it anyway, just because... ;-P
*Edit - ok, the standard screw is about 7.4g, so this would save another 4.2g off the build. Every bit adds up, right?
