Went to my local shooting range today. It clear, dry and about 95 degrees, no wind. I was using a load of 123gr ELD-M over 29.7gr CFE223, new Hornady brass, and CCI #41 primer. COAL was 2.245. The rifle is an Anderson with a Elfman trigger.
The Upper is a 20 inch Bear Creek Arsenal stainless 1:8. I did some paper punching out to 100 yards. The scope is Leupold VX2 3x9x40 with a Windplex reticle. CDS dials, groups were pretty good with the fore mentioned load. Groups were between 1-1.25.
So after doing the initial 100 yard zero. I took shots out to 600 on various steel targets. 200 was 2.3 MOA, 300 yards was 5 MOA, 400 yards was 9.1 MOA up, 500 13.4 MOA, finally 600 was 17 MOA. It was so much fun, I shot pig silhouettes, rounds that were from 9 inches at 300,to 16 inches at 400.
It is amazing out to 600 yards, the power that the Grendel imparts to a silhouette. It just smacks it, and to watch the target hit dead center and shudder. Nothing like it.
I shot about 200 rounds today. And I am amazed at how little copper there was in the barrel. I did 2 complete cleanings on the rifle. With Sweets. CFE223 is why there was so little copper. I had a great day it was fun. This particular rifle I use for target practice.
My next trip will be Tuesday, to take my hunting rifle. I will be using the same components. But the bullet will be a 118gr MKZ, by Cavity Back Bullets. Over a charge of 28.5gr of CFE223, COAL of 2.255. This should be traveling at approximately 2400fps. Stay tuned. A2

Are you calculating your MOA right? I believe MOA is calculated at roughly 1" @ 100 yds (1.0471996" for the finicky ) so if you were @2.3 inches @200 yds you would have a rough MOA of 1.65 @ 200, your 300 MOA would be 400/5= .8 moa. etc. . .. .

+1 on that. Are you speaking of the MOA/up clicks you are adding to your optic from a 100 yard zero to achieve hits on your targets at 200, 300, 400, 500, 600? If so, I believe your elevation inputs for those ranges appear to be reasonable. What were your groups looking like for those ranges? When you say rounds at 300 or 400 are you speaking groups? Wouldn't a 9 inch group at 300 yds be closer to a 3 MOA group, and a 16 inch group at 400 be around a 4 MOA group?

I believe he is talking about his DOPE for each range. Meaning for 300 yards he dialed 5MOA on the turret to be on target.

Strelok calculates MOA corrections very close to the OPs figures.

Yes, from zero. 200 yards is 2.3 up from 0. Or roughly 10 clicks, 1/4 inch each click. A2

You like it at 600 yards, you'll love it at 1000. Your holdover will be about 38 MOA, and your energy with a 123 gr will be around 430 ft-lb, (~1256 fps). About what a .40 cal pistol has at the muzzle, or thereabouts, with 155 grain. I've got to try some of the ELD's; I still have about 400 hundred 123 AMAX left, and maybe 150 SMK 123's. I like the SMK's a lot, except they're more expensive. I get about 2" less drop at 1000 yards with them than the AMAX, with the same powder load. I'm using AA brass, 31.5 gr CFE-223 and WSR primers. I get 2640 fps MV (20" barrel 1:8 twist). Generally, I can get 7-8/10 hits on a 18x18" plate at 1000 yards, and have hit as far as 1125.
