Any tips or tricks different from a .223 Build?

Putting my new hunting Grendel together this weekend. Major Parts:

- Noveske Forged Lower I had in the safe
- Vltor MUR Upper Receiver
- JP 18" Lightweight Barrel
- Noveske 16.7" Rail
- POF Trigger Group
- JP Parts Kit
- B5 Carbine Stock

I will end up using an adjustable gas block since this will see some part time use suppressed.

I've done dozens of AR15s and AR308s as well as an SBR Blackout. I can't imaging there is anything really different BUT - Is there anything I should be aware of that may be different when assembling a Grendel?

While I cannot speak about assembling .223 I used that basic information to assemble a Grendel upper and a complete build on a clone shooting .50 Beowulf.

I am a novice and those were first assembly attempts using that basic information along with a lot of other reading on this forum and elsewhere.

Just be certain the bolt and barrel are compatible. If your JP barrel is headspaced for the Grendel bolt (.136" face depth), be sure you have that specific bolt. This only needs to be mentioned because of some vendor's offerings of barrels headspaced to allow the use of 7.62x39 bolts, which have bolt face depths of .125".

I like a nice snug fit between barrel ext., and receiver. Also bed with Loctite. Not red! I have read where some are using grease to bed. I also like adjustable gas blocks for fine tuning. Happiness is an AR that drops all its brass into a 5 gal bucket...

Check to see if the face of the receiver is square, if not you'll need to tru it since that will help get every once of accuracy out of your ARs and Grendel.
