DM and Survival Course North Springs Feb 26-27th Updates with Video

For those that are interested, this will be 2 Days, 1 Night. Both days will focus on shooting at distances anywhere from 200-800yds, weather dependent.

You will get a lot of opportunities to shoot in real conditions in real terrain, and various steel targets all over a unique landscape that exceeds what any other range complex I have seen has to offer.

For those that have been, they can confirm what I am saying, in that it's impossible to really convey what a great range complex it is.






In every one of these pics, we are shooting at steel targets across a small ravine/canyon with vertical cliff edges on our side in front of us.

Cost: $400 per person
Round Count: 300 rifle
Rifle: Scope rifle that will shoot ~ 1 MOA, zeroed, with a rifle checklist done on it, especially base/rings with appropriate and balanced torque and thread locker.

This is a great course for working on practical hunting marksmanship in real terrain, while also seeing what the actual capabilities and limitations of your rifle/optics/mount/ammo system is.

Bonus survival instruction will include expedient winter shelter, fire building, optimum layering of clothing and sleep systems, ground insulation, and related skills.

For all those attending, I use the blended learning approach, where what would be normally covered in a classroom is done in advance online.

That allows us to focus all the time at the range actually shooting.

We had a great course covering:

Safety brief
Fundamentals
Grouping exercise after dry-fire drills at 100yds
Stress fire dot drills
Steel from 200-1000yds
Rapid traverse TGT engagement at 200-300yds

Positional shooting
Stress fire from a walking state to getting into different positions, with target call outs and engagement
Barricade positions from VTAC wall as well as rooftop platform

Day 2 we did Buffalo Canyon out to 915yds, incorporating the different drills getting into positions other than prone.
We then did loophole exercises at Over The Edge
Then did urban position shooting from the balcony at the Cowboy Town.

Here's some video of shooting 200-500yds practicing dialing with mag change worked into the drill. He's using a highly upgraded SCAR-17S with Kinetic Development Group extended handguard, Geissele SCAR trigger, KAC MAMS brake, with NF 2.5-10x42, shooting the 155gr AMAX, which was a solid shooting bullet out to about 700yds with the 1/12" twist.

I'll be doing another this spring. Not sure about summer, because I have a lot of events to be to, but fall and winter 2016.

We have Boomershoot coming up next month.

Steel Safari is 1st weekend of June.

Should be able to do a May course for those that are interested.
