Theres a few manufacturers for uppers that go on a AR lower. Farret was the leading maker for a long time. Theres tons of controversy that thelowers are too weak to with stand that recoil. Its a different recoil that what an AR was designed for...

i still dont have one, but the best bang for the buck for me at least is still the armalite national match 50...

375 cheytac is suppose to shoot further than any of those now too tho, those calibers are history for long range chasing... the 375 was the king last time i read something...

Anyone got any comments on these. Surely the lower will take a real beating since it was designed for a much smaller cartridge?

Would you recommend them as far as accuracy and robustness? I was a little leery of the receiver strength myself. My shooting buddy and I have been contemplating purchasing a 50 in the not too distant future.

I have a bolt action single shot Tactilite. It is very accurate and It does not kick any more than my 300 WM. There are no issues with lowers not holding up! I would be suprised if you found any articles with pics that show any damage ever happening.

I saw a video of it last year on a forum, 50 bmg upper on a Ar15 lower that didn't fair well. I got no experience with any of it, no one knows it that incident was user error too..

That owner told me he couldn't find any wear and tear on the lower. I've heard of guys running them on poly lowers without issues. I'm not sure on accuracy, .50s are generally considered anti-material vs. anti personnel rounds. I've never shot one that was better than 2 MOA.

Having one would be fun, but .338 Lapua is plenty of fun for me!

I'm kicking the idea around. I just picked up a bunch of 408 Cheytac brass and bullets, It would be a Blast!

Here's a good article. I shot some of the guns in it, with some interesting projectiles on steel. It was pretty fun, especially since I wasn't told that I was lighting off that type of ammo before firing.
