The SHOT show video is worth watching.
The follower design looks interesting, and I was surprised when they described it as a 'double to single stack'. I'd assumed it was just a straight single stack.

Looks to be about the size of a curved 20 round 5.56 mag, 10 round capacity, $18 list price and 'just around the corner'.

Honestly I wasn't too excited about a poly 10 round mag but after seeing the video, I'm wishing they had a 'notify me' list on their site. It may not be a better mousetrap but they appear to have really put some thought & creativity in a new design.

The first magazine will be just a 10 round capacity. After we tie up a couple other projects we will look at doing a higher capacity magazine. We also will be making a "minus 5" inhibitor that will also work in the 6.8 SPC version of this magazine we will release later this year. That will help out those who use their rifles for hunting in states that only allow a 5 round capacity.

I would love a polymer Grendel mag and will definitely pick one up when there's a -5 available so I can hunt with it. It's nice to see such a thing coming, but I am going to sort of 'wish out loud' that these might someday be available in a translucent poly like those Lancer mags. My roomie runs those in his Blackout and they're pretty great. I'd certainly pay a little extra for the feature.

FWIW Magpul doesn’t do translucent cause it weakens the polymer.

Lancers can do it cause they use metal feed lips. My translucent Lancers are my favorite 5.56 AR mags. I also shoot .300bo so this is an easy way to visually verify no .300bo gets in my 5.56 rifle or pistol.

I appreciate you sharing that. I was unaware. I had never experienced these Lancers until my roomie picked up a Rattler that came with one and I loved it. Same deal about visually seeing that 5.56 and .300 don't get mixed. Not sure if that's any sort of problem with Grendel mags. I know we're using our own mags, but was watching a SHOT show recap where a guy was saying that you could run Grendel in your 5.56 mags so the only thing you have to change is your upper.

True to a point, can't load too many tho. Big thing to remember is you can't fix stupid.
The shooter must always be aware of what he has and its status.
The Grrs have a lite blue follower, different from the 556 mags as I recall.
In any case observation and awareness are necessities to the safety first maxim.

Will there be a capability to add a basepad to these similar to the taran tactical ones? I would like it for the added weight to the magazine, and the added capacity would help also to get closer to the full 30rd of a normal ar mag. I'm planning on doing some running and gunning with my set up so it would be nice to have the extra weight to drop free.

Hey, it's awesome that the production and testing of polymer mags is progressing. I am hopeful that they will deliver in a major way. That said, I'd love to see a little caliber personalization. How awesome would it be to have a 6.5G marked on them straight from the factory. Eliminate some confusion in low-light situations for those out there that love to hunt hogs in the dark with multiple people and/or guns.
My slight suggestion, get a nice little 6.5G mark in the production casting on these things. Separate yourself from all others and really deliver! Next step... talk BFT into a production run with the logo as well. It has rapidly become our banner logo.
