Anyone try the Aero adjustable gas block?

I received my aero gas block yesterday, safe space shipping the next day after ordering it! They are good to go but are out of stock now. Anyways Installed I yesterday, I had to cut off the old gas block, (I shoot this rifle almost everyday)had some major cleaning of carbon deposits off the barrel and bird cage. This gas block was the perfect tightness l, it took a tap of a plastic hammer to get it in place but was easily removed with a light tap of the mallet. The nitride treatment seems well done and very slick, there are a couple of machining marks on her but nothing alarming. The click stops are nice and crisp and it even came with a spare detent in case you lose the original. Will test it out and adjust it this afternoon after work.

Why did you have to cut the old gas block off??

The old $10 block was not that tight at the port and carboned up the bolts, they stripped out.

Hey Texcl2, would you (or anyone else?) mind measuring the thickness of your Aero GB a the very bottom? i.e. the thickness at the 6 o'clock position? I'd like to know if it'll fit in my Centurion Arms Handguard.

For comparison, I tried a spare Troy low-pro gas block in my handguard. Thickness at the bottom is 0.21" give or take. It's just barely thin enough to provide a margin of error. I have a BCM GB, which is about 0.20" thick at the bottom. If the Aero adjustable is in that ballpark, that should be good for me.

I’ll try to remember to measure it tomorrow. So I got The grendel back up running after breaking the extractor. This gas block is great, I love the click adjustments and have had no issues at all with it once adjusted. It fits the barrel nice and snug and looks really nice. The smooth click adjustment is my favorite feature though.

I just received a new Aero adjustable GB. At 6 O'clock on the GB it is .189" thick. Hope that helps...

Thanks. Yes it does help. That would provide plenty of clearance.

Now if my Aero gas block would every arrive. I ordered mine through Optics Planet because of the $48 price and free shipping. However, expected shipping seems to be stuck at a perpetual "12-20 days". So out of frustration, I just went ahead and ordered my go-to basic GB, a BCM, yesterday. It was in stock and has in fact has already shipped.

I don't actually NEED an adjustable for my 16" Monster barrel upper; no suppressors allowed where I live. Just thought it would be a fun thing to experiment with for the price they offered. Oh will. Guess I'll cancel the Aero GB order.

I just spoke with an optics planet rep, looks like some are due in December. I got mine super cheap so just gonna leave it on order. Besides as of tomorrow everything might just get worse. It’s a great block though.

Thanks Tex. Good to hear that OP is up front about how far out the Aero GBs are. My BCM is already on the way, so I'll probably just install that. Maybe I'll wait and see what the adjustable GB looks like when it eventually arrives.

I’m in the same boat. I had to get a cheap adjustable block for the meantime. This is on a 300 ham’r build I started on a m4e1 set and a Wilson combat 18” barrel. The other aero gas block I received went on my 6.5 grendel and works superbly.

Any adj gas block needs to have the adjustment screw turned in and out after any amount of use to break up the carbon. The adj screw will get carbon locked if a person fails to do any form of maintenance on them. My brother had an older Syrac adj gas block carbon up and wouldn't function with some lower powered ammunition. I got it to loosen up after soaking it in Kroil penetrating oil for about a week. I prefer the SLR adj gas blocks https://slrrifleworks.com/sentry-7-set-s...gas-block/ They are easy to disassemble, if service is needed.

The superlative arms design is supposed to avoid this. I have 3 so far and none have had carbon lock issues.

So going through this thread I checked back at A.S.S and they had 22 of the SA blocks in stock (.750 melonite). Well, 21 now

I'll give the aero a try next time, should it be available again.

I built a 300 ham’r last week and couldn’t wait on the aero block anymore. I had a pending order with optics planet so I added a SADLAK adjustable block to it, it was like $25. I put the ham’r together with it and have to say, fit and function is excellent. It no frills but hell it works and is made in the USA.

I have one on my latest 5.56 build and I'll see how it does compared to my SLR. I'm interested to see if there will be any type of gas erosion on the adjustment screw compared to the SLR.

The ship date came and went, I’ve been having all sorts of shipping issues with them for other stuff as well (optic planet). I will be avoiding them until they get their act together. All the other vendors I have bought from have delivered in half the time and the in stock times have been close.

The aero block I have has been working great! I’ve adjusted it a couple times with no issues. A properly adjusted gas system sure does mitigate recoil and reduces brass damage.
