I would definitely pick the 5.7 special ammo for an armor penetration contest, but as you suggest...that is far from likely to be a need. If it is...the noggin' probably isn't armored is it?

What I use is 45 1911 but given the choice of SBR or Bullpup, in theory and the given circumstances I'd go with the Bullpup & 5.56x45. Quick handling, fast follow-up shots and controllable penetration. That said, to me the bullpup is an unknown entity, so in reality it'd be the AR-15 SBR.

I've got to go with the 12 ga. Guys the option of bird shot, buck or slugs, seems the best choice for not over penetrating in a house or into your neighbors.

Well, since we're not going from the menu, I submit that the SW Governor with Winchester PDX's would be a wunnerful Home Defense choice. 6 rounds of scatter shot with 3 absolutely ruin your day plated cylinders, per shot. Not as glorious as a 12 gauge, bull pup or M4, but it can be kept it a nightstand safe, and retrieved very quickly.

You can't buy a full auto p90 as I think you subtly imply. Levity aside though why would anyone want full auto in a home defense? If one were inclined to SBR a PS 90 wouldn't one or two at a time do it for you?
Bird shot is only dependably lethal to little birds. Little disks are a particularly poor choice as well. To paraphrase then jest at a line from one of those "Young Guns" movies from the 80's "...you know what happens when you shoot a man with $1.10 in dimes?" ....not much (unless perhaps if you are literally pressing the barrel against the person at the time you pull the trigger). I don't say this to be sarcastic in any way, I just don't want you to think you are going to protect yourself and your family with that.

I have to say, though, that I am shocked, amazed, and astounded that not one single person has opted for 6.5 Grendel. I mean, where is the loyalty of members of the Horde, anyway??? :eek: 
I agree with StanC .Non of those is a right answer. Com'on if you want to defend you home with you women your children and your old folks use something that will work every time . Use a Claymore. IED type. Blackpowder for low velocity and size 9 to 12 shot for poor penetration . Put them up high next to a video camera so you can see who is in the room; aim them down and across the room. Then you can use just about any weapon for cleanup.

Sadly I have seen for myself many times. Obviously with .410 from point blank range you can get reasonable penetration. I in no way meant to disparage your credibility, I had no idea you meant from a .410 at 5 feet where obviously the disks would not work like a parachute and have a reasonable amount of distance to cover.
