Agree w/ 1shot. The barrel has what -- maybe a couple of variables, but the shooter, position, technique, 1000's of different twitches... the shooter adds in probably 1000 variables...
I've only mastered about half of them, and keep practicing.
I like good barrels don't get me wrong, the ones I have now shoot better than I do.

Don't get me wrong, I am no Carlos Hathcock but I can shoot my Garands better then this and they are iron sights. My DD Mk-18 is more accurate, although I do use handloads, but ones that are for my SPR. I have taken both military and civilian shooting classes and I know there are a ton of variables. If I can shoot an AR in 5.56 accurately I don't know why one in 6.5 would be different. I even switched lowers with my SPR that has a PRS stock just to take that out of the equation. Only thing left would be to swap scopes, but that is PIA. Maybe the barrel will like the Fed 120s I ordered...

if you get a chance to shoot someones accurate Grendel, you will be sold. I have found that when someone I know has their rifle out shooting and its shooting real well, I can shoot it real well as well. if I am having accuracy problems with a firearm I feel is built well and should be right on, I get a friend who I know is a really good shooter to try it. the truth comes out at that point,,,,,

Besides lapping the face of the upper when you install the barrel coat the barrel extension with red Loctite. Glues the barrel to the receiver.

I dropped off the Lilja barrel today at my gunsmith. I also picked up some Sierra matchking to try those. I should have it back next weekend and will break it in and see how she shoots. I should have bought the Lilja from the beginning, buy once cry once...

So I was finally able to get out and try the new Lilja barrel. I think she will be a shooter. I shot ten three shot groups to start breaking her in with three different types of ammo. I used Hornady Black, SSTs and Federal 120 SMKs. All except one were under MOA, with two being under .5 MOA and most others hovering around .75. The only one over was just over, 1.1. So far the barrel likes the Black the best followed by the Federal. The SSTs provided the worst groups. I figured the lighter Federal 120s would shoot slightly higher then the Hornady 123s but it was about 1/2 lower on all the groups. Hopefully in a couple more trips we will have a definitive factory round and I will start on the hand load testing. Oh and cleaning the barrel was the quickest and easiest barrel I have.

It will be a toss up between American Eagle and Hornady Black. My Bartlien loved them (American Eagle), my wallet however....never mind the short brass life with Federal Brass. Kind of made Hornady the defacto winner.
1.1 with SST is actually pretty good. Damn picky bullet as to what barrel it will shoot out of. You can line up 5 barrels by the same MFG, and only one will shoot it sub MOA, the rest will suck.
