Casing being scratched

I bought the barrel from Optics Planet, they had free 2 day shipping. We all know that waiting for gun parts is painful so the quicker the better. Big Grin I sent an email to Faxon first to see if they wanted me to go through O P first but they told me to send them pictures. Your brass looks exactly like mine.

Nate moved, he's not with Faxon anymore. He's the Director Of Sales And Business Development at H&K USA now, since September 2017.

At Faxon, Mark is the gentleman that will likely assist and had be very quick to handle my concern at the time. You can also reach out to Pat (Faxon-Pat) in the industry section of ar15.com, he heads sales I believe currently.

I had purchased mine through optics planet also, must have been a bad batch. I also posted on the ar15 forum the problems with lost barrel and communication with Faxon.
They said they are swamped and hoping to get a barrel shortly

I thought about doing an exchange with Optics Planet but if they got a bunch of these barrels that were made with this issue the exchanging won't do any good.
I actually sent in my upper to Aero a day before I discovered this is issue, thinking the upper might be bad. The barrel would not seat all the way into the receiver so that the feed ramps are flush with the feed ramps cutouts in the receiver.
I'd be willing to bet that the barrel issue is what caused this problem too.

Sent the barrel back to Faxon today. Now I get to wait. I've been wanting to build a grendel for a couple years so I get to wait a little longer.

Well 10 days ago Faxon said my barrel should ship in a couple days, nothing no tracking or email notification had to email them today to what is up.
I hope I am the only that is having this much trouble

I had a quick response via their chat via Facebook when I ask asked if they had received the pictures I sent.

I had two run-in's with Faxon's customer service, my experience was exceptional as both times they took care of my issues and had it shipped back the same day or the very next day back to me. Will note no tracking was forwarded and the return mail was 2nd day delivery. Also to add on the second go around it took a couple days to get a response from Mark, but once he responded he seemed to stay right on top of it.

Sorry, just disappointed. Don't mean to hijack this thread.
I have been dealing with this for 6 weeks since my first contact with Faxon.

Just got home this afternoon and the barrel was waiting for me. Thanks Faxon, after FedEx lost the barrel. At least Faxon sent it USPS.
But, it had the same issue as the previous barrel but not as bad. I was not going to send it back again so I resolved the issue. 1000 grit and cutting oil, cut the sand paper in 2"x9" rolled it to fit in chamber and rolled counter clockwise until it expanded to fit and twisted back n forth. Took about 20min. I am very satisfied with the results.
I think this is a nitride finishing flaw because it is like small pieces of sand nitride over. The chamber does not look rough once the little buggers are gone.

Before I sent mine back I could see 3 little "bumps" that were brass colored in the chamber. This was obviously leftover from the brass that was scratched. I would have thought Faxon would have fixed that or replaced the barrel.

This was a new barrel, I dimpled the gas block on the original.
The amount of little sand was about 1/2 of the original.
One more note, the fluting is not centered on the barrel, it is not very noticeable but I definitely do .

So how in the hell do you get someone.... ANYONE from Faxon to respond?
I sent my barrel back to them on 3/29 and FedEx shows it was received by Faxon on 4/4.
I sent an email on 4/9 (silence) and again on 4/12 (nada) just asking about what will happen next and maybe an idea when I might get a replacement barrel. Not one response. I also sent an email to Faxon-Pat over at AR15.com this past weekend.
Yesterday morning I messaged them on their Facebook site.....CRICKETS AGAIN!
All I am asking for is just an update. I really am beginning to wonder if I made a bad decision and wasted my money.

It's sounding more and more like Faxon has a big problem. I can understand s___t happens but like I said, I just want to know what is next or some sort of update.
I set an upper receiver back to Aero Precision basically at the same time I sent the barrel back. I have received the upper back already and they kept me informed through the entire process.
Nothing was wrong with the upper. I I'm sure it had to do with the Faxon barrel.

Communication is key, as a customer that is what I expect.
I think Faxon has an issue finishing chambers and they cannot keep up with the returns. Knowing what I know I would have fixed my original barrel myself. More trouble than it was worth and ended up fixing the replacement barrel that was not as bad as the original.
I can feel your pain

I purchased a 20" faxon 6.5 barrel from optics planet. My rifle is doing exactly the same thing , it is scratching the hell outta the cases , and the cases are very hard to eject. My question is for anyone who sent the barrel back is it worth all the hastle or should i take this in my own hands and just clean and polish the chamber real good myself. I only ask this because i already see one person got a new barrel back and the new one had issues. Faxon barrels seem to be of high quality, but If they are going to ship out barrels in this condition i think im going to spend my money elsewhere. Not to mention this is a "Match Series" barrel Above $300 LOL. Hehe what does that mean, Matching scratches on all your brass? So anyway am i glad i found this post because before i read it i wasnt real sure exactly what was wrong BCG Barrel , i just knew something wasnt right and had narrowed it down to the barrel. I may try and contact faxon and just see what they say. I emailed optics planet and they said ya send it back and our team will look at it but Beware if we cant find anything wrong we wont accept return. Oh man imagine that. So what do yall think send it back or try and fix myself?

GjGary after reading your post , im just gonna use your method with 1000 grit sandpaper, i may get a assortment of grits from 500 to 1000. i wonder if you could use a wire brush type deal with a drill ? what is the name of this cutting oil you used? I will gladly appreciate any tips tricks you used to fix yours. Hopefully someone at faxon reads this thread. My 1st Ar15 build was a 556 with faxon barrel that shoots great, this 6.5 grendel is my 2nd with faxon barrel that doesnt shoot really at all. My next few builds i was planning to use Faxon all the way 300 B/o , 224 valkyrie etc , but after seeing this issue it definitely makes me think twice. I will at least look at other brands Ballistic advantage , Odin , Walther, etc etc much more seriously now.
