Remember with knives......you get in a lot closer than most people want to be. A hog's tusk is much like a knive, so expect to be hurt as well. No one gets out of a knife fight without a scratch.
One is none, and two is one. If my grendel fails, I want a secondary system to go to. I like the pistol over a knife because it still gives me 25+ meters to work with. A knife is SHTF and its do or die time.
If a pistol in a holster is too heavy, look for pack options of a chest rig. Or train if you are able. If you are not crippled or a recent surgery tester, then work out a little. Lose five pounds to carry a 2 pound pistol. JMHO
